Surrender option in campaign?

Post by AngelWuff »

I just started playing the game again after a few months off, and tried the deep core mission with a crazed group of duellists (sort of half RP idea I had). During the fight, exploding enemies managed to cripple all three mechs, one was down fully, one lost a gyro and was staring at the cave ceiling unable to move, and the last one blew a leg and was admiring the floor they could only see now. I had to leave battle and then use the HQ to pull my team back, paying a chunk of money to do so. Is there a way to surrender in game? without having to go all back to that... and were they supposed to have all their mechs fully repaired once more? just curious, couldn't find an option, and was really bugging me.

The only way to surrender (besides retrieving) is to eject all your jocks (if all your titans are not mobile). If the AI has some titans of its own disabled, you can try to go for a draw, ejecting one jock at a time - but that'll depend on squad level and # of disabled titans.
Since you're playing a campaign map, it is possible that the map designer may have set the map to only save the squad if it wins the battle, so that you may lose at will and no changes are saved (including titan damage). Can't check that map right now, will do in a couple of days if noone else does it first.

When you retrieve a squad from battle from the hq, the squad is returned to its status before the battle.

It would be nice if the AI could surrender when it realizes that it will be defeated.

It does. It either offers a draw or ejects [;)]

But only when all Titans are disabled right? (Or is it non-movable... for example: lost a leg)

What if they still have one Titan running around, 7 on the floor without legs, and all mine are still walking...

They'll continue to fight until that last one is disabled too...

Hmmm, on second thought... I think I prefer it this way. If you changed that, then making some Mission / Campaign maps will be difficult. The enemy would always surrender before the player could finish the full map... For example: The Deep Core maps would surrender before completing all tasks...

Think of all the XPs you'd not gain if the AI would always be surrendering [;)]

You know, this just goes to show everyone (including me) just how much time you guys spent on this game. A lot of thought went into it and you seem to have all the bases covered.
