Based on the original wargames “Main Battle Tank: North Germany” and “Main Battle Tank: Central Germany”, Flashpoint Germany is a new grand tactical wargame of modern combat. Every aspect of modern grand tactical warfare is included, from advanced armor, air and helicopters to chemical and tactical nuclear weapons. Step into the most dangerous war.. . that never was.

SOP Question...

Post by Jarhead0331 »

So I'm playing a scenario...all the action is near the central portion of the map (the WP objective is a center town)...In the initial setup, I deployed two units north in addition to the units I deployed south of their position to protect the WP objective...My central guard makes contact with the enemy...my artillery combined with an armored platoon shows them whos boss, but oddly, those two units deployed north of the hot zone are forced relocated as a result of SOP...when I win the scenario and survivng WP are revealed, there are no enemy units even remotely close to those northern units...they took no arty fire either...so the big question...what forced them to relocate?

Thanks...

EDIT: Tbird3...I'm going to send you a pbem first thing in the morning!

You don't say what the SOP was for those units.

For example, Artillery units are set to default Do not let the enemy close within 5km...that's a big distance. Also, it's not clear from your post really where the enemy units were when the untis moved, etc, etc.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is there isn't enough info to see what the prob was. Do you have a saved game you can send me (one which shows the units BEFORE they moved)? This would help see why the units moved and where any enemy units were, if at all...

Or if you can even tell us what the SOP doctrine was for the units...that would help a little...but again, without knowing exactly what enemy units were about, it's hard to say.

Next time, take a screen shot (Prt Scr) button. This will take a desktop image to the clipboard. You can then use another app to paste (open the app and press CTRL+V (not the + sign)) the image and then attach it to the post.

The SOP for the two units, cav scouts and a platoon of tanks, was withdraw if enemy closes to within 1000km...the closest enemy units were at least 6000km to the south...I'll try to recreate it and take a screenshot...

It is entirely possible for enemy units to have passed by close enough to trigger the SOP move and then continued out of range. Once the SOP move is triggered, like any other move, waypoints are created and the unit will follow that until finished.

I am guessing since we don't have more information about it. The end of game positions of course do not reflect in-game positions. Moving units may possibly not be seen as they pass by etc...

Ahhhh...you are very wise sir...I didn't think of that, but given the circumstances, I'd say that you probably hit the nail on the head...

Thanks

You're quite welcome. But keep an eye on it just in case...
