I really want to buy this but....

Matrix Games and Simulations Canada combine and completely remake two classic NATO vs. Warsaw Pact wargames into a new classic. Based on the original wargames “Main Battle Tank: North Germany” and “Main Battle Tank: Central Germany”, Flashpoint Germany is a new grand tactical wargame of modern combat. Every aspect of modern grand tactical warfare is included, from advanced armor, air and helicopters to chemical and tactical nuclear weapons. Step into the most dangerous war.. . that never was.

I really want to buy this but....

I like every aspect of the game, but just 4 maps and 17 scenarios sounds a bit on the light side.
I realize we can create our own maps and scenarios but I have always prefered to play the game rather than dabble in scenario creation [;)]

Can we expect the developers to release map and scenario packs sort of like what is done for FPS?

You can.....

and you can also expect a whole host of wargamers to create great scenarios and post them online for download.

I don't know if you played COmbat Mission, but some of the best scenarios I played were created by gamers.

I know that other maps are currently being developed as we speak.

Hi FJ,

As I have read the forum posts ( read them you will see) it seems this fellow, Robert Crandell, is the type who is passionate about his wargame development. I think it would be fair to say that if you buy the game you are coming aboard a system that will be developed and supported.

My 2 cents.

Oh what the hell
I got a new job and it is paying me well so I have some extra money lying about.

The game looks too good to pass up on and I think support for the game will increase as time goes on.

Hopefully we will see some scenarios based on the novel Team Yankee.

Hopefully we can get some linked scenarios on adjacent Maps, where units move forward with losses, and other units can be attached from Corps HQ, dependent upon Mission.

I agree that "Team Yankee" was, at least in the first Book in the series, really outstanding, and worth building some scenarios around.

I'd have bought it if Infantry had been modelled. I didnt realise it hadnt been until recently.

IF it expands to include them then I shall give it ago.

I bought this game and am very very happy I did ... because:

I think this wargame engine will be developed and added to over the years and I hope it will turn into a PzCampaigns, Decisive Battles, TAOW, etc. gaming community that builds on this excellent interface for a long time. I look forward and expect there will be infantry modelled; other parts of the world mapped; and other armies built for us to do battle with.

I don't fault anyone for waiting. I almost decided to wait for Combined Arms, another WEGO system, but I had to try the modern battles genre and jump into my first WEGO game.
