Data Issues or Inconsistiencies

Post by Nick Papp »

Pleae post any questions you have on any unit values you may have to this thread. We have done some extensive research on things like Fortified Cities, Plane values, etc. and would be happy to address any comments you may have. Please be aware the the Tank data in the game is still unmodified, but will be worked on once our programmer gets back from vacation.

Regards,

Nick

The game has calculations for most every type of combat except for fighters. I would like to know the calculations and how MVR,CAN and DURAB are used to figure aircraft kills.

Not sure - we'll have to wit till our programmer returns from vacation in two weeks to ask him!

Regards,

Nick

These were the formulas being used about a month and a half ago (I had to go through 400 e-mails to find this) and what the fighter-bomber formula may have been changed to:

In air combat, there are two sets of formulas:

FIGHTER vs FIGHTER COMBAT (include fighter-bombers) :

dogfight value = dogfight+experience/4
is substracted from this value of the fighter(-bomber) is on a bombing mission

FIGHTER vs BOMBER COMBAT (dive-bombers, heavy bombers, transports..)

fighter's value = dogfight/2 + experience/8 + 1 + cannon

dive-bombers, TDs, transports.. : dogfight/4 + experience/16 + cannon/4
heavy bomber: dogfight/4 + experience/16 + cannon * 2

The attacker's and defender's values are compared, and this yields hits.

If hit, an aircraft is only damaged if : random(9)<6 and
random(cannon)>random(durability)
Otherwise the aircraft is shot down.

I am thinking of changing the fighter vs bomber formulas. Here is what I am thinking of :

attacking fighters: dogfight/3 + experience/8 + cannon * 2
dive-bombers, TDs, transports.. : dogfight/3 + experience/8 + cannon/3
heavy bomber: dogfight/3 + experience/8 + cannon * 2
I am fairly sure that the last formula, or something very close, is what was put into the final package, but as Nick said, the programmer is gone and he never e-mailed us the final formula, although he did change it.

Thank you for getting this information. At least I have a clue as to the calculations. I did figure that MVR was more important than CAN by just playing. I see that I was right about that. It will be nice to see the offical data on this in a few weeks.
I would think that Cannon > Durability would equal aircraft shot down. Why would Cannon < Durability equal a kill. looks like that is backwards.

It is actually using a random number related to the cannon value and durability for the damage vs kill check, so I am not so sure what the net meaning of it is. However, it does sound backward even then, as it looks like the higher the cannon rating, the more likely it will be to have a random number greater than a random number based on durability. If it is a typo, Arnaud will probably clarify that when he gets back.

The gun value of Me 110/ME 410 is to low, they
should have at least 12 or 14.
Fw 190 F should used in their origin role
as ground support airplane, not as fighter. So
you can start 1943 to replace the older Ju 87.Historical more accurate.
