ONE YEAR AGO

Post by Wild Bill »

As the month of September is upon us, I want to offer my sincere thanks to the Mega Campaign - Screaming Eagles Team as we are nearing our first anniversay.

Hardly seems possible. Of course I still had two months worth of work, compiling editing, and testing. At this point, however, our work was nearly done.

The same is true for the MC- Watchtower and the MC- Desert Fox teams. Some of those folks have faded into the past. Others are still here, alive and kicking.

At this time, let me once again express my deepest gratitude for your hard work and your camaraderie. I salute you all. [&o]

Thank you, Bill for including me in that adventure. It was a lot of fun.

So much so, that I am working on a 1 game campaign in a similar theme. This is a scenario in which you can buy and deploy a portion of your force.

It is named "Skewer the Screaming Eagles" [X(]

As German defender against an airborne assault, you must try to defeat the airborne battalion and hold or recapture vital communications points.

Two scenarios, designed for pbem/hotseat and solitaire are now in testing and should be ready for release soon.
They struggled with a ferocity that was to be expected of brave men fighting with forlorn hope against an enemy who had the advantage of position......knowing that courage was the one thing that would save them.

Bill, it has amazed me, also, how quick the year has passed. Some of the team has moved on on to other things, but many are still actively involved here and at the SPWaW Depot.

Without MCSE, I wouldn't have been a part of the Matrix OOB team or been asked to take on my present moderator position. SPWaW, and the friends I have made along the way, are now indelible parts of my life.

There were some tough times, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. [:)]

Happy One Year Anniversary to all my fellow MCSE team mates. [:)]

Thank you Kunel for the whole experience...truly a worthy project that allowed a lot of us the chance to give something back to the community, while also fostering lasting friendships.

Here's to MCSE!

Yikes how time flies. I've had War in the Pacific testing to keep me busy. But I'll always be ready to go again with Wild Bill when he calls.

Well, thank you gentlemen. I learned a lot from you guys. You were sharp, on point and did your work well. If anything were to motivate me to grab another MC project by the gonads and squeeze, it would be the pleasure of working with each of you or others with the same talent and determination.

THank you all!

I would like to work on another myself.

As I see it, we only have one obstacle, getting access to the software used to make em.

As I have no pull in that area, that leaves me out.

So much war to simulate though eh.

I figure we could get another MC in before we see any competition for Steel Panthers showing up though.

All comes down to whether the powers that be wish to let us lose on making another or not.

Of all the projects I've undertaken, HG, doing a Mega Campaign was the most difficult. I've done game and scenario design for the old SSI and Talonsoft companies, Matrix and HPS.

Doing one, and doing it right is pleasant nightmare (if there is such a thing!), but the end result is very satisfying, at least for me. Having a virtual encyclopedia at hand and battles, large and small, waiting to be played is most exciting.

Like you, however, I would like to see another one done. I've done three of them and not sure at this point if I really want to take on that burden, even with all you highly qualified gentlemen there to work with me.

But I have no secret formula. Others could do the MC, if Matrix were to give the okay and find a qualified person to head up the project.

[:D]Too many years ago! I just recently found time and finished Desert Fox, which I had from day one. I went back to it after becoming disenchanted with Lost Victories. There were too many times that Russian's would come in behind my lines on the flanks by using the edge of the map board. I didn't agree with this strategy in designing scenario opposition, so I'll probably never finish LV. For now I think I'll just mess with regular old campaigns and scenario designs or get War in the Pacific. I do miss the old OOB team and the work I did on that. It is still neat to see that some of my work has survived. My hats off to all the people who have mad so many years of war gaming fun. Thanks and keep on kicking!!!

ANd I doff my helmet to you, my friend, for hanging in here with us all this time. I hope you will try MC-SE. These are most shorter scenarios and has a lot to offer in variety of battles. You'll have a new appreciation for those "devils in baggy pants" after you try this one...almost like "Band of Brothers" in a gaming format. In fact more than one scenario does portray the actions of E Company during the war.
