Ship: Nexus Class Battleship
Nationality: Terellian Alliance
Ships in Svc: 1 (Nexus)
Description: The Nexus Class Battleship was designed to be the most
destructive warship ever spaced by the Alliance. Armed
with 8 powerful Gamma Class Lasers, 4 Fusion torpedo
Launchers, 4 Mk7 Interceptor Launchers and 8 Particle
cannon emplacements, this ship is quite capable of
destroying smaller ships in a single salvo. However, all
of the power of her weaponry comes at a steep price,
without proper escort, the battleship would certainly
fall prey to smaller, more maneuverable opponents. It
also lacks a fully functional CIC, so while this ship
could certainly be used as the core and command centre of
a battlegroup, any admiral and command staff would be hard
put to find a comfortable place to do business. As such,
this ship is typically called out to support a carrier
battlegroup, with the admiralty stationed onboard the carrier.
This ship was designed at the same time the Spectre Class
destroyer was designed, and the first keels of both ships
were layed at the same time, but design and construction
problems delayed its deployment for quite some time. The
origional plans called for an armament of 8 X-Ray Lasers
hard mounted to be fired in tandem, but with the development
of the Gamma Class Lasers and the construction delays the
project had already suffered, the Admiralty decided to
switch out the primary beam weapon type for the more powerfull
of the two types. It is rumored that with the development of
the Athena Class ASM, this class will undergo yet another
refit program soon to mount the heavier missile. The Nexus
class ship has never been tested in battle, however
simulations show that she is quite capable of defending
herself given the proper escort of fighters and capital ships.
Live fire combat trials have been scheduled for late next
year.

Model Complete, .def is pretty ruff, but almost there, 90% complete, still got a bit more testing to do.

Ship: Grand Hegemony Class Battleship
Nationality: Markian Hegemony
Ships in Svc: 1 (Grand Hegemony)
Description: Taking their cue from the Alliance, the Hegemony laid the keel for the Grand Hegemony Class Battleship almost 3 years after the Alliance had
began construction of the Nexus Class Battleship. Intelligence on the Nexus project served the Hegemony ship design staff well, the Grand Hegemony was built to counter the Nexus Class ship, but not in a slugfest, but in a test of fire-power projection. Labeling the ship a 'Super Carrier' at first, the Hegemony justified this by mounting a fully capable launch facility outboard to the port side of the ship. This alone increases the usefullness of the Grand Hegemony class ship tenfold. In addition to the Battery of fighters the ship carries, it mounts a greueling assortment of weapons including 8 heavy Gamma Ray Lasers, a Mk7 Interceptor Launcher, 3 Fusion torpedo Launchers and 8 Orca Deck Cannons. While the Orca cannons arcs are different from the Nexus, it suffers from less point defense in the aft (mounting only 2 of the 8 cannons to the rear axis) it does account for one of the Nexus's weaknesses, a single Orca deck cannon covers each flank of the ship, while the remaining 4 Orca cannons cover the foreward firing arc. In addition to all of the above features, the Grand Hegemony has aboard it, a fully functional and spacious CIC, allowing for at least two admirals and their respective staffs to be present and working at the same time. The Hegemony admiralty has considered several refits for the Grand Hegemony
as of late, including some of the following (none of which are final at this point):
1) replacement of Fusion Torpedos with Athena Class Missiles
2) removal of 4 of the 8 Gamma Ray lasers and replace them
with turret mounted versions of the same weapons.
3) increasing the number of deck guns avalible for more effective point
defense coverage.
4) decreasing range, buy replacing some of the current cargo space with
fighter storage and flight crew quarters.

Ship is textured and in game now (I'll post some screenies later), .def is almost finished (got some fine tuning to go yet), i'd say 70% done, still much
testing to be had on this one though.

Ship: Freedom Class Battlewagon
Nationality: Dantari Separitists
Ships in Svc: 1 (Freedom)
Description: More a carrier than a battleship, yet more an aging ore freighter than battleship is the most apt description of the Freedom. Built in secret, the Freedom is a 'second class' battleship, lacking the heavy weaponry of the Nexus or Grand Hegemony ships of the same class. However, what
it lacks in heavy weaponry, it makes up for in shear size and tenacity.
The idea behind the Freedom's constuction was simple, build a heavy
ship that can match the other navy's battleships in firepower, but do
it cheaply. The end result is a curious success, the Freedom mounts
2 XRay Lasers, 4 Fusion Torpedo launchers, 4 Nike Missile Launchers,
5 Orca Deck Cannons and 4 Ursa Deck Cannons. The odd compliment of
deck cannons can be attributed to the efficency of the Dantari salvage
opperations. It's array of weaponry is further augmented by the massive
launch facilities the ship has been outfitted with, capable of storing
no less than three full wings of fighters, a wing of LCA and at least
one Corvette class ship (to be covered later), the Freedom is an impressive
combatant from afar. However close in engagements are best avoided,
her hull and shields are thin compared to the more modern ships of this
class, even some smaller naval ships pose a threat to her. To make up
for the horrible accelleration this ship suffered from when it was
'aquired', two heavy fusion engines were attached outboard amid ship,
maneuvering thruster banks were also installed in the same engine housing
to assist with maneuverability, time will tell exactly how much they'll help
though. The Freedom has little in the way of command and control or CIC
equipment, still the Dantari admiralty seems content to work aboard her.

Still poking around with the mesh, this is what I have so far... i'll maybe give this one the 20% done mark.

Keep up the great work, Necro!
I really like the look and concept for the Freedom class. Very nice!

Thanks Phoenix!!
I'm going to post some textured pictures of the Grand Hegemony tonight, I should have a chance to Start working on the Freedom on Wensday or so... I'd like to get the Freedom's textures 'just' right...a bit of rust, some blast marks...ect.

Very Good work indeed Dr. Necromancer.
The Admiralty is looking forward to those tests, not without some degree of impatience.

Grand Hegemony Class Battleship

The overall design looks great. My only suggestion before actually testing it would be a vertical fin extension for the lower aft engine pack - as these fins are so typical of Hegemony designs.
Thank you so much for this Necromancer! I do have a small tear of joy coming to the eye when I see this sort of work - specially knowing that it's stock SS balanced![&o]

Keep it up and never give up! Never!!![:-]

Concept 1. Zolon Battleship W.I.P.

[X(][X(][X(][&o][&o][&o][:D][:D][:D]

It's awesome Nec!!! It is!
Zolon ships have no point defense and missiles. However, they excell in shields (even fighters have them) and beam weapons.
A Zolon DD has 4 graser type lasers, a CA 6, so I would assume a BB at least 8.
Yet judging by the Nexus, perhaps you should add a spinal mounted big gun, besides the lasers.[:-]
I am not sugesting a planet killer but perhaps something in between.[:D]

Thanks Diab, I haven't added the Fin, I'll do that tonite and see what it looks like, i'm afraid that it might detract from the 'functional' look she has, we'll see...it won't take too much either way.

One of my tests was a Zolon DD vs the Nexus...needless to say the Nexus got tore up... I've got an idea for the heavy guns on the Zolon BB, but it means adding a weapon, something that could potentially unbalance the game...but I might do it just for fun anyway...

Excellent Idea! I suggest a spinal mounted weapon, somethng between the planet killer and those Independence day ships![:D]

Ship: Freedom Class Battlewagon

Excellent idea and concept! Something that could be used not only by the Dentari Separatists but as well as by pirates for the "purist". Matty will be very happy with this pirate BB![:D]

Awesome preview for what you are about to model anyway!!! Dying to test it out!!!
Hail Caesar! Those who are about to have a greater time playing SS salute you!!![&o][:D]
