How to use Editwirexe.

Post by Rowdy »

Hi
I can't seem to get the edit wirexe. program to work. I've fiddled with it but does not show up in any scenario or game. I use the one in the game no problem but have no clue what I'm doing in the out of game edit program. Is there some trick to make it work? Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!!

When you enter the program, you need to load from a file - L for load. Typically, for at least the first time, you need to load an entire scenario by name using K. The 1941 campaign game is called obwir - the scenario files are the ones that start with ob and do not have an extension. Once you have saved individual segments, you can load the segments and just work on them.

After loading it, you can then make changes to the different parts of it, such as using W for changing the leaders. After making your changes, you then must save it back through S for store data, and then K for complete scenario file. You must then enter in the original file name.

Each scenario has to be changed separately in many cases. However, for non-scenario specific items you can do you S to store data, choose an individual file segment such as T for tank type, give it any name, and then open each scenario through L and K, then do another L for load and load the segment type that you saved, such at T. Then you can do your S to save data and save the entire scenario again. This will allow you to update all scenarios with the same values - this is best used for tank and air values as they do not change from scenario to scenario. Leaders, on the other hand, may have a delay before they are used, and this probably varies in each scenario depending on the start time.

I hope this helps a little - it is definitely not an easy system to use, especially without documentation.
