Very Nice User Interface

Matrix Games and Simulations Canada combine and completely remake two classic NATO vs. Warsaw Pact wargames into a new classic. Based on the original wargames “Main Battle Tank: North Germany” and “Main Battle Tank: Central Germany”, Flashpoint Germany is a new grand tactical wargame of modern combat. Every aspect of modern grand tactical warfare is included, from advanced armor, air and helicopters to chemical and tactical nuclear weapons. Step into the most dangerous war.. . that never was.

Very Nice User Interface

Post by jcribbs »

Just bought the game and played the first tutorial.

The first thing that impresses me so much is the well thought out, professional user interface and the attention to detail. A great example is the ability to totally customize the mouse scrolling.

I program for a living, not that that makes me an expert, but I have a little bit of an idea how much effort it takes to create a UI this polished.

Robert, my hat is off to you! [&o]

I'm looking forward to really spending some time with this game.

Why thank you. I have been programming since 1978 or so and bad interfaces are a pet peeve of mine. The DOS days were particularly tough. It is so easy to create an interface that is hard to use and so hard to make one that is easy to use!

Not that FPG couldn't stand improvement of course, but this is indeed something I care about and work on endlessly. Jamey, I appreciate your noticing.

Cheers, Rob.

I have to agree with the interface bit. Very elegant. Congratulations.
I've been working with Borland tools for a period of 15 years, and by the look of some bits of the interface, I somehow noticed that you must have used some of them too!

BTW, is it really necessary to have to press the "Confirm" button each time you give an order? It's somewhat redundant, maybe you can have a look at it.
