Minor bug: captured floatplanes

Post by Grotius »

I'm playing Japan in a PBEM of scenario 3, Coral Sea, and a couple turns ago I inherited Tassafaronga. (Even though I didn't invade the hex, I "occupied" it and took control of the base because I had Lunga and Tulagi already.) Tassafaronga was empty except that it did contain a squadron of damaged PBY Catalinas. My opponent may have transferred them there without any aviation support; I'm not sure what they were doing there.

Anyway, when I took control of the base, the damaged PBYs still showed up on my base screen, under the command of an American squadron leader. I didn't think to check whether I'm getting charged the aviation support for having these things around, nor did I try disbanding the squadron. It's not a big deal in this scenario because we'll be done in four days, but I thought I'd mention it in case the devs aren't aware of the issue.

Also, I posted a screenshot in my Coral Sea AAR (see the AAR forum). I am of course happy to provide a savegame if need be; I have copies of every turn of the game.

Just wait until you get captured enemy aircraft on an airfields you have taken start flying attack missions against your own Task Forces with no Av Support. I am in April 43 as the US player and Japan as the computer and took Truk 4 months ago and the computer still will not give it up !!! My US ships (if I dock them there) sail off to Japan on their own, or US aircraft fly away to Guam and joint the IJ Air Force, it really make me want to go back to table top games. I huge 9 level port and airbase and I can’t use it

That's a big 10-4, Rubber Duck.
Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

Similar story here...playing Japanese vs AI and discover on capturing Clark Field a respectible assemblage of B-17s, P-40s and P-26s! After some buggerizing around with moving base forces, finally managed to transfer them to all to a level 1 airbase with no support and let them eventually go non-operational [never one to pass up an oportunity, I did try to transfer the B-17s to one of my own HQs..you never know...but that action was undone at the change of turn].[&:]
