Stalin is not reachabale at the moment (he is only crying, and hiding away). Molotov has been sent to the germans to beg for peace. The red air force is in heavy training, but will not be commited any time soon.

No losses.

Stalin slowly rises up from his nervous breakdown, and ordered the rising of 8 new tank armies next week. The beaten rest of the red air force left the fronts. It is time now for the red army soliders to fight in the shadow of the german bomber armada. They have to pay with their blood for the time needed to rebuild the red air force. Molotov did not yet return, so we guess the germans really want to destroy our beloved Sovietunion. Rain began to fall again at the end of the week.

No losses this week (we can retreat perfectly now).

Germany has launched a major attack in the centre in a attemp to capture Minsk. Very strong Soviet formations are in this area supported by a very large armored force protecting her rear lines. This armored force has the German's worried and reports are showing that we have only encounted only a small portion of its strength. Even with complete control of the skies, Germany has had a very hard time in linking up her pincers ( two 4 to 1 attacks ) and it is questionable if she can keep the Soviets from breaking out.

The red air force tried the german frontal panzer korpses with unescorted bombers. To our surprise they got through the light german fighter defense. 2 panzer korpses were bombed, and 6 tank armies launched a limited counter on 3 eastern panzer korpses near Minsk. 6000 fighters supported the attack doing great damage to the lightly escorted german bombers. at the end of the week the 3 german panzer korpses were destroyed ( 2 shatter as they retreated the wrong way and one surrender).

Its a pitty this shattering has happened to the units that had places to retreat. I think this result has spoilt the game, but the war still goes on.

I expected the Russian counter attack and placed my best formations behind my lead pz korps to counter attack the attacking Russians. I was hopping that the Russians would commit there airforce to this battle so I tempted them with low fighter cover in this area.

Major air battles have destroyed 3 out of the 4 commited airbases and the counter attacks have encircled and destroyed 2 tank armies and 4 inf korps. ( 1 Russian korps had close to 1500 tanks !!!!! ) Both sides have suffered massive amounts of losses in this area but with Germanys very high tank losses, I would call it a German defeat.

After the devastating defeat the red army and the red air force flees from the mighty germans.

No losses this week.

Stavka

p.s: I had 6000 72+ exp fighters there, but they were massacred in open airfight (first airfights with intact fighter groups) more then 2V1 including german bomber losses... In my experience such slaughter of relatively experienced soviet fighters = several full stack of higly (around 90) experienced max number per wing fw's ... Until end of 43 that is not possible to live with ( to offer any kind of air resistance), and can be challenged only from mid 44 (with quality). I don't really mind my tank armies as long as they bring the panzers with them (the lost tank armies were replaced). As well kingtiger is playing I will be lucky with a draw...

This is funny result as both commanders moral has been shattered in the opening weeks of the war, I was going to pull back last week after my most beloved pz korps shattered!!

The air war

Germany has around 10 fw109A's in Russia and another 3 in the west. I would be lucky to have more than 2 airwings with 90 exp ( most airwings have 78- 85 exp ). My good results in the air were not because of my great airforce, it was because of the lack of Russians that took to the air. ALOT of Russian airwings had a very small number of aircraft intercepting my force and were no threat to my bombers, this made them prone to being airfield attacked. Only 1 airfield showed a good number of fighters intercepting but I would say i was very lucky to bomb it with my best airforce, on my 1st air mission. When I encounted large Russian airwings ( 200+ aircraft in them ) they held there own and in some cases the inflicted losses of 3 to 1 to me. The only problem ( or advantage for me ) was that these large airwing were only encounted rarly. Germany did not bomb the Russian air fields the maxium amount of times as the needed there airpower to support the army.

Both commanders now have the chance to rally there troops and most importantly, themselfs.
Germany has lost big on the ground, Russian in the air. Mybe this has even things out? who knows, only time will tell.

PS.... I have taken a big risk in this game in doing something and you will find out soon!!!

Well, I underestimated the Luftwaffe and I paid the price. Red air force will be back in a month, but I cannot do any offensive air operations as I need all fighters defending. My center line is broken through completely I have only a few downfighted tank armies there. You must have nearly all your panzers in the centre I guess, if that is the big risk. But I cannot capitalize on that as I'm busy with defendig against it:(

German's have moved up to the front this turn. Nothing to report

Army group centre attacked you with 15 pz divisions and it had 4 ss pz divisions in reserve. You have shattered 6 of my pz divisions so that only leaves me with 9 pz divisions to attack you with.more forces are moving up to the area as we speak. I think i made a mistake in not commiting 3 more pz divisions to the centre, this extra force would of saved the 6 pz divisions from shattering.

IMHO, a 1942 compaign is very unbalanced. Lets have a look:
- Special rule "surprise airfield bombing" is gone (+ for Russians)
- "Desorganization" special rule is gone (+ for Russians)
- "Blietzkrieg supply" special rule is gone (+ for Russians)
- Russians has trained airforce (+ for Russians)
- Defencive positioning of units (+ for Russians)
and so on....

How can they lose in 1942?

In the south the red army begun to attack the germans to lighten the burden on the crippled centre. All attacks suceeded throwing back the germans. A german panzer korps had no panzers in it... If this area is emptied we have enough infantry here to beat the german infantry. Of course some panzers would change the situation real fast. In the centre we still could not fill the huge gap caused by the panzers, the way is open all the way to Moscow.

Army Group North has been ordered to advance and cover army group centres left flank, after spotting tank armies forming North of Daugavpils. Some reckon attacks have been launched to test the enemies defences. We encounted very strong Russian forces, well entrenched behind a river.

In the centre my Panzers are trying to keep in contact with the retreating Russian tank armies. The Russian's are massing more tank armies in this sector and now have more of them than I do in Pz divisions. It looks like a very large tank battle will be fought in this area shortly so the advances have been more cautious. The battle of Minsk has begun with both sides locked in some very bloody fighting. German troops tried to cut off the supply South of Minsk, but is being delayed by some very strong Russian troops in the area.

In the South, German allies have been smashed by strong Russian forces. German troops have counter attacked and regained most of the lost ground. We have more than enough forces in this area to stop anything that the Russian's can throw at us. The Russian shock armies in the rear are making us think twice about launching a major attack there.

The 1942 compaign is not easy for Russians to win but it is nearly impossible to lose. I can not set a date but stategically speaking Russians should win. I'd consider a draw as German victory.

I would be very happy if I was able to get a draw result. I dont think I will get that result against tom1939 as he is playing very well. I would say that he will knock me out around the end of 44
