I was very happy to have discovered the reissue of WIR and all the folks that are interested in it. Like many others the reissue has got me thinking of my wish list. I can't help but share it with you in the hopes that I can stir up some interest in it. Please notice below a summary of the idea and some of the features such a version would have.

WIR version x.0 Command and Staff Module: A multiplayer client-server game

Concept: Two supplementary programs operating on the existing WIR data files and any others necessary will support multiple players for each side in the command positions from Army on up. Commanders would issue plans, operations orders, and frag orders to subordinate commanders. Commanders would be supported by visual reports that serve as the commanders staff.


National Command

Control production
Control force structure
Issue Air and ground Plans, Operations Orders, and Frag Orders (E-Mail any player)
Establish Order of Battle for immediately subordiante commands
Establish boundaries for immediately subordiante commands
Allocate replacements of all types
Allocate operations points
Has access to unit histories of all enemy and friendly units as known by the inteligience and operations staff respectively
Is briefed on the enemy situation, capabilities, and intentions by the intelligence staff
Is briefed on the friendly situation and capabilities by the operations staff.
Is briefed on personnel strength and trends by the Personnel staff
Is briefed on air unit strength and trends by the air staff
Controls transfer of units from National Command to subordinate commands
Orders transfers between and from subordinate commands

Theater Command and Army Group Commands
Issue air and ground Plans, Operations Orders, and Frag Orders (Theater can E-Mail any subordinate command. Army Groups can only intiate e-mail up one level, to the adjacent Army Groups and to subordinate commands)
Execute air attach orders
Establish Order of Battle for immediately subordiante commands
Establish boundaries for immediately subordiante commands
Allocate replacements of all types
Allocate operations points
Has access to unit histories of all enemy and friendly units as known by the inteligience and operations staff respectively
Is briefed on the enemy situation, capabilities, and intentions by the intelligence staff
Is briefed on the friendly situation and capabilities by the operations staff.
Is briefed on personnel strength and trends by the Personnel staff
Controls transfer of units from Theater HQ to any other command
Orders transfers between and from subordinate commands

Army Commands
Executes normal Corp and air attack orders.
E-Mail to adjacent army commands, to immediate superior HQ, and replies to any higher HQ
Establish Order of Battle for immediately subordinate commands
Allocate replacements of all types by division and separate units
Allocate operations points by divisions and separate units
Has access to unit histories of all enemy units within the assigned zone plus 5 hexes as known by the inteligience staff.
Has access to unit histories of all friendly units within the command as known by the operations staff.
Is briefed on the enemy situation, capabilities, and intentions by the intelligence staff
Is briefed on the friendly situation and capabilities by the operations staff.
Is briefed on personnel strength and trends by the Personnel staff
Controls transfer of units from Army to subordinate corps and all other units.
Orders transfers between and from subordinate commands

Server Module

Assigns players to commands
Accepts turn orders from army players and merges all
Executes game turn and stores results with previous results
Sends e-mail messages reporting each combat result to concerned players
receives and processes reserve unit commitment orders
sends turn results to all commands

Player Module
Receives results and staff data from server
Based on boundaries and Order OF Battle assignments by the player, produces scenario like game turn for each subordinate command.
Sends and receives e-mail messages to other commands/players


Moddifications
Commitment of reseerves is player ordered
