Program freezes

Post by mikelees »

Hi all.

Downloaded TSATG tonight (well last night now) and have extracted it and can run the program as far as the game menu ie I can select to Play the Game or go to the various websites etc from the first menu.

Once in the game menu, I can move the pointer all over the screen until I place it over any of the options at which point the game freezes immediately.

If I bring up the tasklist and select the active game (as opposed to the initial menu) it closes the game down.

Any ideas ?

That's a symptom of the game actually crashing. Since it is doing it in the same place, it makes it easier to deduce the cause.

The first order of business is to make sure the video card is up to spec, and the drivers are up to date. For some reason older video drivers are extra sensitive to the simple graphics TS-ATG is using.

The next thing to do is to run the DXDiag tool. Here's a link to some instructions:
tm.asp?m=725928

Since the game actually crashed, there's going to be a log file generated. You can find that where you installed the game. My log file is in: C:\Matrix Games\Alexander the Great\Log. It will be a dated file with the .log extension: tinsoldiers_11_14_2004.log.

So now you want to send an email to support@matrixgames.com and attach the log file (or files) and the DXDiag output file.

Sorry your having problems, we'll get you up and running as fast as possible.

I had the same problem. I recently upgraded my video drivers, and so far the game is working perfectly.
