Database Question

Post by scout1 »

I'm working on putting together a upgrade listing for the various ship classes (and other stuff). Using one of the extraction tools off Spooky's site to generate the csv files (i think it is Michalem's). Anyway, I'm sure you guys have run across this but ......
I've noticed that several (more than one) ship classes have 0 for the nationality. Now, either

a) the database is flawed
b) the extraction tool lost something
c) Microsoft Excel hosed it in the read

Is it the first ?

Nationality has no bearing on ship class, other than Japanese ships must be located in slots 1-171, and 501-1199, and Allied ships 172-499 and 1200-1999.

Well, I'm merging ship classes and ship names into a large spreadsheet. The ship names has a nationality flag. Go check the Gato class subs. Should be US (4), but has 0. Seems to me that assigning leaders to a platform that is without nationality migth be a problem.

I routinely run WITHCHK. I also use WITPLOAD to extract the data from the .dat files and import it into a database (Access). I use SQL to put together combined class/ship/location lists to check for problems.

We got it covered - only problem is my occassional mistreeks.

Thanks for the input.

My brainfart. I use witpload too (sweet tool). Apparently, I grabbed a mod'd Sc (maybe Lemurs ?). Anyway it had a Class ID 329 (6 boats)
which all have no nationality. When I checked the Sc Editor, the 6 boats all have Ship ID's that are not used in Sc 15 (for ex 4611). Anyway, I started with the wrong file and it went downhill from there. I'll re-run Sc 15 and try again.
