Losses since start screen bug

Post by Yogi Yohan »

The losses screen now includes a grand total of losses "since start", which is a great feature. Unforunately, the sums are not saved when you save the game and so begin from zero on each new game session. Is there any way to include these numbers in the savegame file?

That's weird. I have a save game that I just looked at from someone else on another problem, and it shows the cumulative losses for me, even though I have not played a turn of it. Do you mind sending me a copy of a save game? I don't know what else to do as it should (and is for me) saving the total losses. Maybe I can find out why in your game files.

Thanks much.

I have seen something simular to this.
If you save a game after you have made air attacks, but before you perform movement and attacks with the ground forces. When you then reload the game and perform the ground attacks, the losses from aircrafts made earlier are gone.

I discovered this after performing air-attacks on all the russian airfields in the first round, later after reloading and performing the attacks with my groundforces, the russians had only lost about 700 planes.

Its too bad you had to remove the rapport that told us what types planes that were destroyed on the ground, i really liked that feature.

I've always manually tracked losses in WIR to compare how well I'm doing from campaign to compaign. Losing track of aircraft losses prior to a save was always a 'feature' of the original PacWar. Started up a new game with version 2.1 on the weekend and noticed the same problem still exists. This is one problem I really hope can be fixed.

Curioser and curioser:

I have started a new campaign and now the cumulative losses ARE displayed. I have a theory on why it didn't work before: i had edited the savegame file with editwir (i wanted to change the availability date of the PzKpfw IVg to march 1942 to represent the PzKpfw IVf2). I i guess it was after that the previous losses disapeared. I will test this out and confirm if it was so.

Yep, that was it. Use Editwir and the saved losses info goes.
