Database Question - Rund III

Post by scout1 »

Ship database
a) Does the "fuel" field represent the fuel capacity or the starting amount of fuel for that
particular ship in that particular scenario ?
b) What is the "sunk" field used for. Appear to be a date. A few of the ships have data
in this field. What is it used for ?
c) What is the "ExperienceNight" and "ExperienceDay" used for ? It appears as if only
transport type ships have this and not all of them. Quick glance didn't show ny values
for the warships.

Leader Database
a) What is the Commandtype field used for ? It appears to be the highest rating for the
leader, perhaps modified for their rank. All of whcih already exists in other fields.

Though this may not be the right forum to ask this .....

Are the PP's listed for the leader the cost to introduce him or the cost to replace him ?

Ship database
a) Does the "fuel" field represent the fuel capacity or the starting amount of fuel for that

Both. It can by default it is the ships max capacity, though this can be changed to any value not exceeding its capacity.

b) What is the "sunk" field used for. Appear to be a date. A few of the ships have data
in this field. What is it used for ?

Sunk signifies the date a ship was sunk. The OOB of War in the Pacific is the same, in that all ships are in it. The sunk field provides that if the scenario starts after the date, said ship does not appear. Thus, the Akagi is in all scenario OOBs, but does not appear in any scenario starting after June 4, 1942.

c) What is the "ExperienceNight" and "ExperienceDay" used for ? It appears as if only
transport type ships have this and not all of them. Quick glance didn't show ny values
for the warships.

These are the ships experience ratings. If a 0 is entered in the field, the game assigns a random number based off a hardcoded number table. Most warships use the random numbers.

Leader Database

a) What is the Commandtype field used for ? It appears to be the highest rating for the
leader, perhaps modified for their rank. All of whcih already exists in other fields.

Command Type determines what the leader can command. I.e., it determines if a Major can fly a plane or command a ground unit, or a navy LCDR command a ship or command a bombing squadron. The rank is important, but does not define what he can command.

Though this may not be the right forum to ask this .....

The cost to introduce him, I believe.

The cost to introduce him, I believe.

Now that would be interesting indeed. Conceptually, I replace a general with a Major and it only costs the Major's PP. MacArtheur would be easy for Roosevelt to replace under these circumstances [;)]

Yeah, but since he commands SWPAC and USAFFE, it costs twice as much [;)]

This is dumb. We should change it so Mac is only in command in PI...put some dork in charge of SWPAC initially.

Initially, to my way of thinking, there shouldn't even be a SWPAC..... Not until mid '42 at the earliest.
