Which post release scenario would you like to see done (first)?

Post by Tankerace »

I am being bombarded with requests to create a hypothetical Jutland scenario between the Allies and Germany. I've also been asked to do a Russo-Japanese War scenario. So, I'll put it too you guys. A 2 month Jutland Campaign similar to the PBEM only scenarios shipping with release, or a 1 and a half year Russo Japanese War campaign?

And please, vote. Im not holding these polls to pass the time. I am trying to get as much player input and suggestions into the expansion as possible.

Now, as a disclaimer, while I make no guarantee that these will be done (and hence not a selling point of WPO), I do want to do this, to further expand on War Plan Orange.

Now note, I plan on eventually in WPO's life span doing both of these, and more. However, As the main work of WPO is in testing and Mike Wood's hands now, I can begin preperations now for the first post release scenario. So, which would you like to see first.

Hey tanker
i obviously love your work and am very keen to play this mod, however, neither of these scenarios are for me

how about a 1933-1935 mod ?
more interesting for me at least as soem of those interwar planes get a run

While I'd love to do that, War Plan Orange, at its heart, centers on dreadnought conflict, not airpower conflict. Plus, to do a 1930's mod would require more code changes, that would need to be done pre release.

War Plan Orange is about dreadnoughts, principly in the 1920s. However, it can also be expanded to the Russo-Japanese war as there are no planes or submarines (and hence, no code changes).

While at some point I may expand War Plan Orange to the 1930's, right now (at least until a while after release) I want to keep it centered on battleship conflicts.

why only 2 months for the Germans? ... Surely the Allies could last longer than that against the High Seas Fleet [:'(]

I'm sure they could. Its just that since the Germans don't belong in the Pacific, and they weren't there then I can't do a long scenario involving.

-Why should you change codes for a 1930´s mod? Isn´t the current WiTP engine enough?

The WitP engine Is good enough, but several date based variables and such are hard coded, and it has taken Mike a good heap of time to create new values to War Plan Orange's current timeframe. So, I will not have him double his workload, especially since I designed War Plan Orange to simulate dreadnought conflict of the 1920's, not aircraft conflict of the 1930's. The only thing different, besides a few ships, of a 1930's scenario and the current WW2 scenario is fewer carriers, and Indo China would be under French control. All in all, while possibly fascinating, not really different or interesting enough to warrant delaying War Plan Orange for several weeks.

I must make one thing clear. War Plan Orange is designed to simulate conflict between battleships, and the glory days of this would be 1922-1930. While I can expand it to include hypothetical scenarios with Germany (a for fun thing), or the Russo-Japanese war, I will not expand it beyond its scope into a game centralizing on air power.
