Strategy and tactics

Post by RSGodfrey »

How flexible is the UI and orders system to implement subtle and complex strategy and tactics?

Is it the thinking person's Risk or more?

Thanks

I haven't played Grigsby's version, but from what I remember, Xeno Games' WaW was essentially Axis and Allies done better. The board game used the basic ideas from A&A, but with a much larger number of spaces on the board, as well as rules to handle political and other aspects of WWII. For the most part Xeno's game leads to far more believable outcomes than A&A, while still giving the players enough leeway to explore alternate paths during the war.

I can see that GWaW still hearkens back to A&A, but with far more spaces yet than Xeno's game. If Grigsby's version is as much beyond Xeno Games' version as the latter is beyond Axis & Allies, it should be a really fun game and so far beyond Risk that a comparison isn't valid.
