Supply Problem

Battles In Normandy is the third game in the Decisive Battles game series. Battles in Normandy recreates all aspects of the Normandy campaign, from the landings on the first day to the final climax of the campaign at Falaise. Strategic Studies Group rewrote the Decisive Battles game engine for Battles in Normandy with a host of new special rules for amphibious and airborne operations, plus a huge number of other enhancements.

Supply Problem

Post by AlvinS »

Greetings

I am on turn 15 of the 32 turn overlord campaign. I am suddenly having a supply problem in the Utah beach area. I have read through the manual, but I am not 100% sure on how supply works and am looking for suggestions. I have been playing this game for only about 3 weeks so I am new to this system, so any help or critiques are appreciated.

Thank you

The problem you're having is that your opponent destroyed the one supply dump on Utah Beach! Once the two airborne supply drop zones run out of supply your Utah forces are in trouble in this situation...

Two solutions:

1. Open corridor thru Carentan-Isgny to Omaha Beach supply;

2. Open capture Cherbourg and receive supply there...

Option one is your only viable option (using Omaha forces to get the heavy work)... Utah forces should be saving bullets until relieved!

How can you tell... "The problem you're having is that your opponent destroyed the one supply dump on Utah Beach!" ?

Thank you. I left it undefended, and paid the price.[:(]

Oh well, we learn from our mistakes! I love this game though.[8D]

When you play the scenario you see where the Utah Beach supply point is located... its the Southernmost of the three Utah Beach landing hexes... in this screenshot:

1. Visually its not there! Should show in that lower beachhead hex...

2. You can also see the German frontline trace includes the supply hex... that eliminates the supply source in this scenario.

Aha! The light bulb come on. I did not pay attention to that, or the fact that they destroyed the supply in that hex. I learn something new everytime I play the game.
