WIR PBEM

Post by huhrlass »

I have the WIR version 3.3 and when I tried to play a PBEM game for the first time starting from my machine the password screen never came up after all was set. I tried it with the Possum v6 campaign and it comes up? Any help out there?

Also, whats the quickest, easiest method to play a PBEM game to send the files?

thanks

yes, unfortunatly you sorta have to setup WiR 3.3 to PBEM! here's how you do it - please note there are a couple extra steps in this to give the Pz II it's proper ikon as well, but while you're in there you might as well do this too!

Go to the WIR program directory.
Start the editwir.exe program
Type L (load data)
Type X (complete scenario file)
Type OBWIR as filename followed by Enter
Type T (tank type)
scroll through to tank 1 (Pz-IIf)
Type H (graphic symbol)
Type 0 (zero) for the new symbol followed by Enter
Type Q (quit)
Type S (store data)
Type X (complete scenario file)
Type OBWIR as filename followed by Enter

if anything is unclear let me know! if by chance you are not interested in putting the Pz II ikon back in here is how you get only the PBEM running:

Go to the WIR program directory.
Start the editwir.exe program
Type L (load data)
Type X (complete scenario file)
Type OBWIR as filename followed by Enter
Type S (store data)
Type X (complete scenario file)
Type OBWIR as filename followed by Enter

as far as sending the files i zip them, then sed them so i don't have to attach 3 seperate files in my email. try WINRAR if you don't have a zip program.

hi flanker,

sorry to bother you and the tips worked great, this is what i do when i need to send the file, i open my wir folder and i notice 3 files with Savea, i then highlight them and this is where I am a little unsure about the best way to send the file, should i send through the zip file or compress them first, i am not sure if i am clear,
do i send through the winzip program or just send the files by right clicking on them and then the box opens up and it has a winzip icon and a send to option, not sure which one is better. thanks i just started a game and sent along, also can you just attach the three files without zipping them?

Hi. You can send files in both ways. A max number of attached files is depend on your postal service . Usually this number is 5 or more
