1st Patch questions

Post by hank »

Is there a date we can expect the patch (V1.01) to hit the airwaves? I don't want to rush it but I was wanting to know because of the next question.

For PBEM games already in progress, will they be able to be continued after the patch is installed? Did that make sense?

In other words, will the patch cause us to stop our current PBEM games and restart new ones?

That happens nearly every time a Decisive Battles (aka KP or BiN) patch comes out.

I don't think it's been tried...but my instinct is, as long as both PBEM gamers are using the same version, you'll be sound.

I guess the proof will be in the pudding. Put it this way, if you both patch and cannot continue, then you're no worse off than if the answer to your question was negative anyway! [;)]

As for ETA, I can't say...but it's very close. The brakes have been put on for feature adding in order to get the patch tested and out. That doesn't mean feature adding is at a standstill now...only until 1.01 is out the door. After that, Rob wants to look at, among other things, dismounted infantry....although, from what I gather, that may be a biggie...but he certainly wants to emulate it, as per his posts on the boards.

The much delayed 1.01 patch should go up today (21 Feb 05) with any luck. If not today then very soon.

The new version does not break any previous saved or pbem games. In fact, in all 3 years of development I have broken previous games only once. It was more work to code it that way but it allowed me to gracefully bring forward all existing games and keep people happy.

Cheers, Rob.
