Artillery...massive bombard

Post by choowee »

First of all, I am loving the game. Patch looks promising as far as AI goes. But a question has arisen...I'm playing the first British scenario with the newly installed patch, with limited orders turned on. My brilliant trank rush to the river banks was stopped cold in two turns, with 55 tanks wiped out by artillery!! In an hours time 1100-1200 the NATO AI fired 61 barrages...61, I marked them down. It took quite a while for the turns to complete. I never saw my tankers even move, it was horrific. And to top things off a few jets flew over for good measure. If this was by design God bless NATO[&o].
I had counter battery orders give to my off map arty, but they never fired. How can so many arty rounds be fired in one turn?

On a positive note I was able to get my motorized rifle battalion across the river unscathed near the southern suburbs. They even engaged a Brit tank company and sent them packing. They are now currently engaging another company on our side of the river, but it looks as if my boys have had enough and are recrossing the pontoons in retreat. Great stuff, just wondering about the arty.

Well, as painful as it is, Off-Board arty is immune to counter battery.

You would be better off to assign your arty to your forward units so they call down the soviet arty on the bad British.

The British have 4 off board arty (and one onboard) to call on, although 61 does seem excessive.
