Restoring Save Games File

I crashed my computer but was able torestore my save game folder. However, I did have to re-install the software. When I try to load a saved game from the restored files the game does not recognize them. I am running Windows XP. Has anyone dealt with this sucessfully?

Did you patch it up to where you were before?

A game saved under a newer version than the one one you playing may not be loaded because the save format may be slightly different.

eg a game saved under 1.4 won't be loadable by the game engine version 1.21.

If you placed it on some kind of removable media, it may have made it a 'read only' file...if this is the case, it should load but you won't be able to save over it. Worth a check though.
