Special supply costs?

Post by ollittm »

I'm at loss to try to determine the basis of special supply OP costs .. Depending on the update file you're reading special supply costs anything between 3-5 for divisions and 1-3 for independent battalions.

3.0 upgrade says it's 3 for divisions and 1 for indies .. But this is clearly not the case.

It seems to me that Pz divisions take about 6 op points and leg infantry takes 3 or 4?

How about Leg infantry vs Motorized vs Cavalry? Same op points for everyone? (horsies need grain, boys..)

And Pz battalion take the same as arty or Flak battery?

In 3.0 special supply costs 3 per division and 1 for everything else including attached AFV battalions and batteries. So a Pz Div with 4 attached tank battalions would cost 7 while an Inf Div would cost 3 if it doesn't have an attached Stug battery. When I build the 1st SS Pz Korp with 3 SS Pz Divs, 1 SS PzG Div, 1 SS Pz Bn, 1 68x JPz Bn, 1 arty battery, and 1 flak battery, it cost 30 OPs for special supply.

Ok, I see.

"Wouldn't it be cool" if WiR interface told you special supply cost somewhere? Computers are really good at this sort of thing but doing all this manually gets a little old after a while..

Anyways. Is it possible to attach an independent battalion into a division? It's a little micromanager-y to check into each and every last infantry division to distribute your StuG battalions evenly..

The player has no control over the attached units in any division except change the type of AFV. The game adds attached battalions and batteries to most of the German Mot Divs and a few of the German Inf Divs. The Mot Divs start getting their attached battlions and batteries in 1941 and the type varies widely between divisions while the Inf Divs don't get their Stug Bats until after Jan 1943. The German SS Mot Divs are a special case as they get a Pz Bn in Jan 1942 then get converted to SS PzG Divs in Jan 1943 with a second Pz Bn. The SS Pz, PzG, and Mot Divs also get elite replacements so their experience is raised by 5 points per turn until they reach 90. These are the troops you always want to lead an assault with because no matter how bad the losses are they quickly are brought back to over 90 experience levels.

Have fun.
