Strange CV calculation

Post by Mist »

I have a savefile where certain Soviet Army has its CV decreasing after applying special supply. I tested this with some other Soviet armies, but everything was ok. Finaly, I've found that this event is connected with the 1st and 3rd tank divisions. Was there something "special" with these divisions in 1941?

Hi Mist,

If you would like, please send me the file to look at. There is nothing special on purpose anyway with these two divisions. The only time I have noticed this kind of behavior is when the unit has been moved prior to the supply being issued. The game frequently does not update the CV after a unit is marched, which drops the readiness and thus CV significantly. Thus, the unit looks to have a strength that is too high. Applying special supply at this point results in the unit recalculating its CV, and thus even with the boost its apparent strength drops. Could this be the issue here?

Thanks much.

I know about march movement CV-noncalculation, Ricky. It is not that case. I had these two tank divisions deployed near Leningrad and kept special-supplying them to see max CV available for them with readiness 99. Their readiness was always below 99% due to Soviet readiness penalty in 1941. I had CV 104 for the corps which contained these two divisions with readiness 71. It turned to 81 after special supply being applied on them. Then I rail-transfered each of divisions to the adjacsent empty corpses and found that only 1st and 3rd tank divisions have their CV dropped after their readiness(every attached tank rgt must have readiness 99) is boosted to 99. I will send you save-file right now.

Yes i've had that happen with 3rd tank in
Leningrad in current running pbem game. It was a straight special supply boost with no movement involved. Units in army were at about 75% and after boost were 85-90% but the
CV went from ~120 to ~95.

Tanks number should not exceed 204. It seems that everything above 204 is counted as 0, or may be (N-204). I've found another tank division in near Byalystok which is affected by the same thing. Anyone who wants to fix it manualy should decrease tanks number in the certain tank rgt. to 204.
P.S. I don't know, but may be experience is also involved in this weird calculation? So mentioned tank divisions will suffer even more when their experience will raise further.
