Hard time getting things to work

Example: Used / command, saw menu, wanted to move a HQ via rail. pressed Alt + V + R...and got a message, "ge [bunch of numbers].txt written to disk". That's it. No movement, no nothing. What am I (in this instance) doing wrong? I don't recall this game being this difficult to learn, although back when, I wasn't this tired after work, either. Comments please, and thanks.

This took some playing with to get right for me. Its not clear, but try Alt-V, release both and then do the R by itself (holding the Alt key at this point will cause a text file with lots of information in it to be written, which is what you are seeing). That should then allow you to click on the distination and it will move by rail, if it can. That should do it.
