Someone please explain to me how a sub can have a torpedo tube in the "center" mount position.

They are tubes in twin mounts, mounted just forward of the con. They are external, and can be traversed to either the port or starboard sides. Being external though, they have no reloads.

That has got to be the freakiest thing I've heard all day. [X(] I assume you can only operate them while surfaced?

I expect that they were as appaled by the idea of shooting submerged as the Brits were. Its just downright ungentlemanly.

More than likely.

Still, the Dutch also found out one depth charge close to the mount, and you have the DC plus 2 warheads going off.... Not good for the sub.

Now on a completely differnt note:
ORIGINAL: Tankerace

The Dutch get 4 Coast Defense ships, 3 Light cruisers, and 8 torpedo boats. I may adjust that if I can find more information on Far East Deployments, but that's what's in game right now.

Also, the 3 Light cruisers carry Fairey III seaplanes, in Dutch colors (otherwise same as the British Fairey IIID with floats)

I guess those would be: De Ruyter/Hertog Hendrik/Tromp/Van Heemskerck/Zeven Provincien/Java/Sumatra? ... although then i don´t see how that adds up to 4 BBs and 3 CL´s.

LOL. When I posted that, I hadn't included Heemskerck, and the Dutch also receive the uncompleted Java class Celebes (part of the whole never were thing).

how is it more confusing? The Coast defense ships Tromp, Zeven Provincien, Hertog Hendrik, De Ruyter, and the 3 cruisers Java, Celebes, and Sumatra. Add to that the Heemskerck, and we are good.

2xKONINGIN REGENTES Class : De Ruyter/Hertog Hendrik
1xMAARTEN HARPERTSZOON TROMP Class: Tromp
1xJACOB VAN HEEMSKERCK Class: Van Heemskerck
1xDE ZEVEN PROVINCIEN Class: Zeven Provincien
2xSUMATRA Class: Sumatra/Java

and TONSSSSS of subs [:D] lol

Hm... i think i can win this war on my own with that (NOT!)

Add to that 1 Historically cancelled Java class, and 8 Torpedo boats of the Z1 and Z5 classes, and you are spot on.

Hey, more ships for you. Plus, if you factor in the 3 French Armored cruisers at Saigon, and the US Fleets at Manila and Shanghai/Tsingtao, you should be able to hold out. Plus you can get 2 ANZAC battlecruisers pretty quickly (Australia and New Zealand).

The Celebes also? hmm.. well if you are feeling that generous... how about giving me the 11 ´O´ subs... and get the Koningin Regentes herself out of the mothballs... or even better... can i have the whole cancelled 1917(?) planned fleet? (I am not the only meglomaniac around... must be a Dutch karakter flaw.. i think there were about 7 ´modern´ BB planned in that... lol.. yeez.. wonder why they cancelled those, after all ya can only go bankrupt once)

LOL.

Na, don't want to go too overboard on this. Still, you never know what I might stick in, and there are always future what if scenarios.

Ok.. one last remark before going to bed... so the count is now up to: 5 BB (Not that they deserve the name.. but it´s shorter to type... well.. not now I keep typing offcourse.. grr...) 3 CL... 8 DE ... 13 SS?

Now whatever happened to:

Q: Is the Dutch Royal Navy presence modelled? Was it more or less extensive than in 1941?

A: No. Its presence was less extensive, and it is not modelled for reasons below.

Sorry.. but I just had to!!! lol

Keep up the good work. [:)]
