Scenario Starting

Do people during the set up phase at the beginning of a scenario move their forces around the set up area to where they want them or do they leave them where the design had set them?

If the scenario is for defense, I might do a little tweaking on the set up, but otherwise leave them in place. If I am to attack I generally move to coordinate my forces for the initial movement orders so as to avoid congestion. I normally play versus the computer, but I just started my first pbem game.

Move 'em, shift 'em, tweak 'em!

Of ALL the things that Rob could get right in this title THIS is the one. And he should be applauded for it.

A randomness factor for the AI's side would be the main improvement - that and a better stack management facility as sugested before.

Also for newbies, note that when you have an HQ with "show subordinates" toggled on, the yellow highlighting in each unit does not mean that you can then give a group order. You still have to Shift+click each unit so a slightly bigger yellow highlight appears. If there is an improvement here, it would be to make these highlightings different colors and/or on different positions on the counter.

On defense i move my units using the LOS hotkey "L" to make sure i have good coverage and overlapping LOF on where i "think" the enemy will come. As Nato this is particularly important and useful especially if i alter the SOP to keep my units from moving out of their dug in positions.
On offense i group them into staging areas, usually a three or four pronged attack, and issue my first move orders as a group which, in conjunction with the "limited orders" option, seems more realistic IMO.
I agree with Adam that HQ's and subs should have there own color scheme, especially as more unit icon mods come out[&o], as it could be helpful[8D].
