Wiptload

Post by HerzKaraya »

Hi,
I´m trying to use the Wiptload utility to edit a scenario but my limited PC knowledge isn´t much of a help! In what folder does Wiptload have to be, how do I tell it what scenario to open, where does it store the .csv files, etc... My copy of WitP isn´t in the default folder.
Thanks in advance

Welcome
Tips for using witpload:
1.Create a working directory under your install directory (eg C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific\work)
2.Copy the program witpload.exe to this directory.
3.Copy the scenario files (wp?###.dat, you wish to base your new scenario on in to the work directory.
4.Bring up a DOS window and change directory to your working directory.

A few notes before starting.
1. By default, the program imports CSV files and creates the scenario files.
2. You can't import over the official scenario slots (1-25).
(a) To export (create CSVs) a scenario, use the /e option. This will read the scenario database files and create CSV files for loading into a spreadsheet program.
eg witpload /e /s15 /i
The above command will export the data from scenario #15 located in the default directory C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific\Scen.
[You can use the /d option to get the files from a different directory.
eg witpload /e /s15 /dC:\MatrixGames\WITP\SCEN]
(b) To customising a scenario, rename the 8 CSV files to a number >25. For the example, assume the scenario will be #199.
eg Rename WITPldr015.csv WITPldr199.csv, etc
Then import the files to create the wp?###.dat files.
eg witpload /s199 will create a set of files wp?199.dat.
You may need to move your new files to the main SCEN directory.
If creating a new scenario, you need to use the scenario editor to load and save the corresponding campaign file cam199.dat file.

Options =======================================
C:\Documents and Settings\Michael\My Documents\WITP>witpload /?
WITP data export/import utility - Version 1.8
witpload.exe [/d<base directory>] [/s<scenario number>] [/i]
/i will use directory C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific\SCEN
/e will export data to CSV(like witpdump)
/f will not perform size validation
=============================================

DOS window====================================
Click on Start -> Run
and type in cmd (if ME/XP) otherwise command (if WIN9x)
Click OK
This will bring up a window where you can do the things I mentioned in other mail.

After following your instructions I had no problems creating the *.csv files and checking the data - now - here comes the next question, I´m trying to experiment a little and wanted to edit some info on some of the files, initially mostly deleting some entries to free up slots and in the future adding new aircraft, pilot names, etc.... But I get an error message when trying to use witpload to create the modified *.dat files, what am I doing wrong? For example if I wanted to delete all the leades of the witpldrxxx.csv file, how should I proceed for the re-encoding to work correctly?
