The onslaught continues at fever pitch. What will be known as the Forlorn Hope air battle off Java results in more massive air losses to the Japanese juggernaut. The few pilots who made it through the CAP fail to score, not surprising given the numbers of CAP arrayed against them. I had hoped the CVs would stay a little farther offshore to keep the AI from stop sending it's planes to sure death but Mogami failed to cooperate, possibly knowing full well this very issue. No matter how one babysits ones assets, one can't seem to keep the AI from doing exactly what you don't want it to do. I really could use some sort of way to impart my will to some degree other than frigging with ranges.
At least, if the AI is going to commit to attacking a CAP strong target like CVs it would commit the whole shebang but no, it must spread itself out. On the positive side, a few planes which did not launch against the carriers hit another follow up amphibious TF.
Subs continue to struggle, with duds being the major problem. At least Howard Gilmore battle surfaced Growler, although his crew's shooting could use some work.
Yenen is becoming an issue. There is just no way I can hold it much longer, what with a half million men bashing away on the defenders. Now we may see how the attacker gains some seriously questionable advantages if a retreat result is achieved at Yenen. Half a million men on going to move through northern China like a land death star. Hopefully my precautions are enough....
