Immortal Reichenau!

Post by Kuniworth »

"The bear" Reichenau died in january 1942 and command of the 6th army was handled over to staff-chief Paulus.

Why isnt this event updated in the game? Its sad to see Reichenau available in the 1944 campaign!

This seems to be totally overlooked in the game.

I did not find Reichnau commanding army or AG in 1944. Though he is in list of available commanders. But I think if someone feels sad about it he will not place him to command. IMHO everything is ok. If you don't like something -- just don't do it. WiR team makes very good work. There are much more important game issues which are in progress.
You can update leaders section for '44 and send it to them. I think they will gladly accept this little correction.

I just took a look and Reichenau was in the original 1944 campaign also. We did very little on changing the scenarios except to add in the new planes and tweak a few other things, except for the 1941 campaign. Anyway, I would be happy to replace Reichenau with a living body as Hitler didn't do too well with his occult ideas, but who would you recommend? I don't think Guderian is present in the scenario, which might be a good replacement. Any thoughts of others?

Thanks for spotting this discrepancy.

May be Manstein. Hitler could possibly call him back to command.

Rick!

I dont now how we should deal with this actually. How do we see on the game, our self as supreme commanders or Hitler/stalin as the boss?

Guderian was dismissed from 2nd panzer army on 26th of december 1941. He returned as chief of the general staff 21st july 1944. The time between not giving a army-command due to the influence Kluge possessed on Hitler. Guderians command later ended on 28th of march 1945.

Should we see him available in june 44 despite Hitlers unwillingness? Or should we place him in the OKH officers reserve pool? Well I dont know this is a game flaw I think. Either you have total command and play the role of the supreme commander otherwise I think Stalin/Hitler should appoint the leaders.

I think GG answered this question when he made it impossible for the players to change leaders of OKH, OKW, STAVKA and the Western and Italian fronts. Hitler/Stalin is in command, not the players. We are forced to deal with things we wouldn't be involved in if it were up to us.

Probably true I think. I've never liked how GG handles leaders.
