Thanx, Jager! Well, like in every country, young Russians are feed enough with history of their country and 1941-1945 period is not an exception. Problem is that truth is often is not said in old communistic history books and only USSR war theater is considered. So you will not find perticular attention being paid to Allied military actions in old schhol books. That was about my shcool education. Problem with nowadays historical education is that old communistic history is thrown into garbage heap in many schools, but new school books tend to be too pro-western for Russian kids education(imagine pro-russian history in western schools). I mean that Russian history is revised from western point of view(especialy WWII period). But I heard that many history teachers teach their pupils using alternative sources, like history journals, articles, and books. So, IMHO we have no official history of Russia nowadays I think. One question for you: Do many young Russians (those under 30 years of age) know much of your country's history, for example, significance of 1941-45 war, Stalingrad, Kursk etc etc.
