PBEM Aztez (A) vs FDRLincoln(J) (Vorsteher and Hawker replaced)
It has been bloody few days (08.12.1941-14.12.1941)
V has ordered his IJN troops to start landings in Malaya around Singapore. The British troops has been ordered to start preparing a solid defence that would hold the IJN advance for a bit. Those measures are being put in place. This is important because we have agreed that sailing through Malaya straight towards Burma/India before the Singapore is fallen.
In the Central Pacific I lost CV Lexington and 2 CA's. That unlucky TF didn't escape the wrath of KB. That was a nasty blow to my plans but what is done is done.
Landings has started at Rabaul. The defences propably wohn't hold for too long. Also, in China the IJN offensive has started. Fighting is going on around Yenen and the Hong Kong has fallen. Chinese troops are trying to start organizing obstacle defences around the country.
North Pacific and DEI has been somewhat quiet. Allthough Brunei was attacked last turn. IJN is propably going to step up the heat here very soon.
PHI has seen many landings around it's shores. As above the Allied troops are doing their best to mount some sort of a defence there. It remains to be seen how well these lines will hold.
I would go in more in depth detail about my future plans but V would read it and that would be that.
Anyway, IJN has lost few AP's, few MSW and Couple of Subs. So, nothing significant in that war sector unfortunately.

War Continues...
14th and 15th December 1941
IJN has stepped up their war effort. There were several new landings around PHI. San Marcelino, Legaspi, Cagayan were all captured by the Japanese troops. Those were unfortunate events but nevertheless unavoidable. Clark Field also had it's airfield bombed by group of Betty's escorted by Zeros.
DEI has seen more landings at Brunei, Amboina, Kuatan, Tarakan. Also, there are suspicions that enemy TF is planning on invading Balikpan. As Allied commander I do not have too much firepower to oppose these landings. There are propably more IJN TF's on their way to more landing sites.
China has seen heavy battles in Yenen and Changsa. IJN troops have captured Ichang and Hornan which were abandoned by the Chinese Infantry.
Central, North, South and Southwest Pacific are all but quiet theatres. Allthough KB might be lurking around somewhere in these areas. Extensive measures have been put in place to find it.
Also Rabaul has seen landings of more IJN troops. The commander in Rabaul has informed that he troops propably wohn't be able to hold for too long.
Burma and India has been in defensive preparations and It's is coming quite nicely.
In Malaya peninsula the re-organization of troops is continuing. There are strong IJN forces that are advancing towards Singapore.
Here is one combat report that was positive news to Allies:
Day Time Surface Combat, near San Marcelino at 43,50

RE: War Continues...
15th and 16th december 1941
There is no stopping on the IJN offense.
Major battles have begun in China around Changsa and Yenen. The news indicated that Chinese forces propably can't hold for much longer in those two cities because the IJN is stacking up troops. Around the country there is "panic" growing to gather forces and prepare for the defense for the Chinese people.
Central Pacific is relatively quiet. Few japanese subs have been spotted but that's about it [:)] There are rumours that Allied are considering to recapture the Wake Island that was lost few days back. Allthough this again can not be confirmed.
South/South West Pacific: Rabaul is the main area of the battle. Allied troops have so far been able to hold on but the situation is growing more desperate day by day. Otherwise, nothing special happening here.. preparations are ongoing though [8D]
PHI is seeing the heaviest action along with China. A lot of Japanese ships are spotted and the allied are preparing their defenses in a hurry. The main defensive line is expected to be build around Clark Field, Bataan and Manila. Again, this can not be confirmed.
Malaya peninsula is seeing a lot of IJN troops too. The main body of the IJN ground troops has reached Singapore. Few Allied units are expected to be trapped behind enemy lines.
IJN has also reached Rangoon through the Burmese Jungle. There are rumours that allied have abandoned that forward base and made much more suitable stand elsewhere.
DEI has seen it fair share of action too. Dutch forces have lost couple of bases (Tarakan, Amboina, Brunei) and few are also under attack as we speak including Kuantan. Things aren't looking that good for the Dutch. A lot of ship sightings but the destination of those ships is yet unknown. Propably, Soerabaja, Palembang, Batavia area but those are just lucky guesses.
Here are few "AAR broadcast from the Allied controlled radio station":

I have produced naturally will be missing hope overcome will be finished the production modified at present for example 170 Zeros yet the corresponding engines however I this space in 4 months to have then each months 1000 -1200 front airplanes and over 2000 engines.

Strategy for the Allies...
This is my first PBEM ever and that will propably show with some mistakes.. we have agreed with Vorsteher that he doesn’t read this AAR so I have decieded to share my strategy with you all:
China:
It seems that the China is deathtrap for the troops. So, I have opted to use the style “Russians”. I do not intend to fight it out with overwhelming IJN troops instead it withdrawing style play. I¨’m moving my forces out of the railway hexes to inner China.. There I will make somekind of a stand but when situation will get worse I’ll try withdraw towards Ledo, Jorhat, Imphal area.. resulting to the situation that Chinese troops will be garrison in that part of India. The advantage with this is that those units will much better supplied and IJN troops will have their supply lines stretched.
This strategy is dependant on one thing.. I must keep the Burma road open for evacuation purposes. Keeping this in mind I have sent Chinese troops to occupy Myithkina.
These plans are already in motion.
Is this doomed style of defence or…. ???
Philippines:
Well, Vorsteher has landed a major force downhere. It seems that he has many Divisions involved. I have abandoned rest of the island and centered my defence around Clark Field and Manila. This hopefully will buy me time and that is what I need to get my troops organized in the theatres.
I have put my Fighters on Naval Attack and I’m hoping to score hits onto his Transport shipping. I think it’s not an good idea to go head to head with his Zeros at this moment.
Anyway, It doesn’t look good in this “tiny” island since he has pretty cut out any supply route to Manila by invading Amboina, Menado and pretty soon he will have Davao too.
Malaya/Singapore
Pretty much the same basic idea as in Philippines. I have withdrawn my troops Singapore and hopefully with that supply I’m able to defend it at least few weeks. I have few units that are cut off but I’m hoping that they can reach Singapore also.
I have withdrawn Airplanes out of the Singapore. Most of them are heading towards India and some of them to DEI region.
1 Aviation team was rescued to Batavia and 1 part of Australian Brigade to India.
DEI
I’m placing my defense here around Batavia and Soerabaja. I have quite a few Aircraft in Batavia and they are set naval attack with range 4-5. Hopefully, when comes in I’m able sunk as many ships as I can.
I have also placed strong surface force in Soerabaja harbour along with PT boats. I hoping he will come to make a bombardment run since those forces are set to react. I do not know If I should take this risk since those ships can be rescued to Australia.
Central Pacific
Well, I lost CV Lexington in the 1st turn so I have withdrawn my CV’s to west coast.
I do not want lose those remaining two. If he deciedes to attack central pacific I don’t have that much to oppose him. Pretty much all my BB’s have SYS damage over 80 and they will be heading towards SF soon to get their repairs done. I have some surface fleets along with subs at Pearl.. and I have brought reinforcements fromWest Coast to bolster defence.
I have placed two groups of PT Boats to Midway. I haven’t yet landed more troops to the island. I’m thinking of withdrawing few Infantry forces from North Pacific to garrison the island. Also, I’m thinking of bringing Canadian Brigades to the island when I have enough Political Points.
I have lost Wake and I will start bombing it with B17’s as soon as I get Midway well supported.
South Pacific & South West Pacific
I’m hoping to bring some forces in since this theatre doesn’t have too many troops in the beginning.
Hopefully, I’m able delay his forces for a while so this can be done. I have dispatched troops/ac from West Coast.
I haven’t decieded whether to hold Port Moresby to the end or concentrate on Noumea area. That’s pretty much an open question.
Australia
I have dispatched troops from the south to guard Darwin and Brisbane area. These will be my strong points here. I do not have too many quality Aircrafts yet although I have saved 2 squadrons of B17’s from PHI.
Also, I have sent a lot of fuel and supplies straight away from the US West Coast. Hopefully these transports will be reach their destination unharmed since I do not have quality ships to escort them.
As time goes I’m hoping to bomb his ships and troops to dust but that will take time and I do not know whether I have that much time before the hell breaks loose.
Burma and India
As stated above Chinse troops will be responsible for the defense in Myithkina area. British troops will at first be garrisoned in Mandalay area. (Those troops were withdrawn from Rangoon and such).
I have no intention to start anything major down in Burma. The troop movement is slow and It is hard to support any kind of ground activity there. Also, I do want the IJN to strectch their supply lines.
India.. Well, I have sent troops down from the north to garrison beaches in the south. I have withdrawn a lot of fuel from the South towards Bombay area. If the the harbours in the south should be taken I do not want him to have 200000 fuel supply as reward. No, Instead I do want him to bring his own fuel if he deciedes to invade India.
Soviet Union
Just building up airfield, ports and fortifications + training pilots. We have agreed to treat this country historically.
North Pacific
I don’t intend to place any major forces here. If he wants to commit his forces here than he can be free to do so. There is nothing to gain in part but you can loose a lot if you commit your own forces.
So, here is my starting strategy. I don’t know if this has any chance to succeed but I will do my best to inflict damage to IJN troops, ships and planes.
Any thoughts or suggestions??
At least my opponent thinks it's all over for allies [:D]
Because he promised that Singapore will fall this year.. Java in January and then it will be India. Personally I don't like the sound of that.. but he might be right. He has started very aggressively and that's is not a good omen [:(]
China:

RE: Strategy for the Allies...
As a predominately jap player I cant comment too much about your dispositions/tactics cos i dont know
But i can say that killing those APD's will hurt , they are by far the best ASW asset Japan has.
Looks like he going really fast on all fronts ! I would put money on he'll have supply problems in a month or so, especially if he is upgrading/changing factories in Japan.
Anyway good luck and i hope you have an enjoyable game [:D]

sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit
RE: Strategy for the Allies...
Thanx for comments Rob [:)] I'm actually counting on the supply issue problem to come into effect. Otherwise I'm screwed [:)] ...yep, those sunken APD's brought big smile onto my face [:D]
The action is really gathering pace.. here is the situation raport from 18th-22th December:
China:
The retreat continues as planned. I'm sending additional Chinese forces to hold the cross-road between Myithkina and Yunan. I have large force in Sian but they will retreat once the troops at the north of China will be safe. (If I'm able hold on to Sian that long). IJN forces did Capture Changsa and there was no stopping them.. right now I'm holding the cross road below Changsa so that my troops from South can pass it and move to inner China. A lot of troop movement all around Chinese border.
PHI:
Awful a lot of action in here. I think well over +50 diffrent vessels around here the Islands. My PT's and few DD's got into surface action and bared well indeed. IJN forces landed into Bataan and coastal fire did a lot of damage.. however I have moved my Infantry towards inland so IJN will capture the base next turn! (That propably was a mistake)
Subs has also played part around the Philippines as well as those P40B's who are still in naval attack mode. I have evacuated 1 squadron of those so They will be action in another day elsewhere.
I have also ordered few subs to come into Manila port so I can evacuate few "parts" of infantry units to Australia.
All and all guns haven't stopped smoking around PHI.
DEI
Japanese have stepped up their advance. They now hold Samarinda (next to Balikpan) and have now landed in Balikpan itself. Also I do suspect and invasion TF is heading towards Palempang.. as well additional landing TF towards Balikpan. (I have just ordered 3 surface TF from Soerabaja to intercept that landing force.. It might inflict casualties to IJN but than again I might pay heavy price).
I do expect a lot more activity from the Japanese in coming turns.
South West & South Pacific
I'm still waiting my reinforcements to arrive from SF. I haven't decieded whether to land them at Auckland or Noumea (Any suggestions???) ...also over 10 IJN AK/AP's were spotted at Rabaul.
Central Pacific:
Still very quiet.. He is propably building Wake Island airfields and such.. than again he might be up to something sneaky since I have no sightings about KB!!!
Burma
Mandalay has now well over 20000 troops and the Chinese are well on their way to Myithkina. I have ordered 1 squadron of B17's and AVG to start bombimg the Rangoon Airfield. I do not want him get that airstrip going for free.
India
Fuel evacuation and troop relocation is ongoing. I haven't yet decieded how I will defend India but I propably will empty Tricomlalee and Colombo since those are island bases and I do not want to get trapped if the IJN forces start invading.
Malaya peninsula
The battle for Singapore has begun. He has sizezable forces moving towards Singapore and I do not know how long I'll last. Few units are still trying get into Singapore and I do not know if they do since the road is blocked. We will have to see how the things turn out.

Those were latest action events..
So far the Japanese navy have lost +30 ships.. I will give more detailed info in the next update.

RE: Surface combats all around..
Your retreat in China is a major mistake. If you play v1.4, most if not all Chinese troops have 100% preparation in cities on the frontline. They will hold long enough for reinforcements to arrive. Homan and Ichang may hold and even launch couter-ofensives if the Japanese commits too much forces in Yenen and Changsha.
Also if you retire from bases, you engineers are letting them undamaged. It is excellent news for Japan. Every ressource point damaged is cost 1000 supplies to repair and will repair at only 1 point a day. So if you damage 50 ressource centers, it will eventually cost Japan 50000 supplies to repair them, and it will take 50 days to repair, so depriving it of (roughly) 1250 ressources and 1250 supplies, and the 1250 supplies that will be made with the ressources.
Never let a base with lots of ressources/HI/oil undefended. In my last PBEM I defeated 6 Allied Bdes in Kuala Lumpur and so the Malaya campain is now a mop-up operation but they disabled 450 of the 600 ressources here ! Repairing a ressource center is a good idea if you keep it more than 500 days (cost 1000 supplies and generates each day a supply point and a ressource point wich wil leventually become a supply point) so I repair it but that means that I am currently losing supplies in this place (producing 150 there, 150 elsewhere with ressources extracted here and using 1000 each day).
If you let only ENG units in such bases, naval/air/artillery bombings will probably disable them so they won't do much damaged to ressources and base facilities. Having combat troops with them is costly in troops points but it is IMOO a good way to lose troops that are very probably doomed anyway.

RE: Surface combats all around..
AdmiralLaurent:
Thanks for the advice! As newbie [&:] I didn't think that far ahead.. well, I decieded to stay in Yenen.. at least for now and hold the IJN advance.. I planning on building defensive perimeter around Chungking, Chengsu, Kweiyang and Sian.. and hopefully I'm able to at least slow down the Japanese juggernaught.
Last few days 24th and 25th were somewhat static.. but there were couple of major notes to think about:
1) The KB showed up around Rabaul!!! I don't have that much to oppose him so that is not good at all. I don't know what he is up to?
2) Canton Island had troops landed in the shore line and that doesn't suit my plans! Should I counterstrike if the Island is captured???
3) I have spotted +20000 inside Rabaul and marching towards Mandalay
4) A lot of and I mean A lot of Ships still pouring into Malaya peninsula and Philippines.. He has committed he's forces with Vengeance in these operational areas! I don't know whether my defences will hold in this massive attack! (I know I should have contested the Bataan landings with some ground troops! [&:]
5) DEI has many transport TF's advancing.
I did intercept those Troop transports moving towards DEI but I was unable inflict that much damage to them! I will move again this turn to intercept because I have a feeling that those forces are coming back again.. hopefully this time around I'm able to score solid hits! [;)]

War continues...
Here is the report from 26th and 27th december:
PHI:
Allied have nomore naval forces attached to Philippines.. the remaining PT Boats were sunk in a surface combat action.
Japanese still continue to unload troops to the island. It doesn't look like there is no stopping them. I have left my AC on Naval attack with the hope that I can damage as much IJN ships as possible.
All the hope is pretty much lost to those god forsaken troops [:(]
DEI
There is a lot of troop ships spotted.. As in previous turns I have dispatched my surface TF's to intercept. I didn't catch any major forces last turn but now I have given an order to 1 TF's to move to Davao. IJN ships were spotted moving towards that base. Hopefully, those ships aren't too well escorted.
Also 2 PT squadrons have been put on the sea in a hope that they could catch some AP's moving to Balikpan area... Dutch troops are still holding the base in question.
China
Most of the troops have now escaped to inner China. It is now time battle it out.. I have been thinking about attacking Changsa soon but haven't decieded on that issue just yet. He has propably moved a lot of troops to PHI??? ...and there might just be an oppurnity to strike back here.
It has pretty much quiet down to bombardment attacks around the country.
South and South West Pacific
Rabaul finally was captured. There is over 30000 IJN troops located there. Also the KB is still lurking somewhere around Rabaul area since It launched strikes againts the base.
My transports still havent reached their destinations.. so it's going to be tough in this are. Also, Canton island didn't fell at least not just yet. I will propably launch a counterstrike againts it if that base is lost. I have 1 Phi division in West Coast and I could mobilize 2 CV's in that operation along with other surface vessels.. Is this a D.O.A plan???
Burma
First IJN troops reached Mandalay... I have ordered the troops stationed there to attack and vanish that enemy force. The Chinese units that I have dispatched are moving on nicely and they will soon reach Myithkina. Also, I have set 2 B17 squadrons to attack Hanoi harbour instead of Rangoon because some IJN ships were spotted there. Those B17's are going forward without an escort so hopefully that wohn't end up in disaster.
India
Preparations are ongoing still.. I have moved most of my valuable forces out of the Colombo/Tricomcalee area. I will soon get 1 British division along with plenty of Hurricane fighter bombers. So, the situation is stable but the defences are far than solid.
Central Pacific
I have decieded to move most of those damaged BB's to West Coast. They are escorted by a strong surface fleet and hopefully can reach their destination without the IJN subs attacking.
Otherwise It is just strenhtening the defensive positions.
Malaya Peninsula
IJN is landing more and more troops around this area. I have moved my troops inside Singapore. First major airstrikes againts Singapore was also launched.

New Year approaching... Port Moresby under attack??
New year is approaching fast.. almost as fast as the Japanese advance in the Pacific. My opponent seems to adopted a blitzkrieg kind of style.
There are a lot to be concern with.
South & South West Pacific
The KB is spotted again this time moving towards Port Moresby [&:] ..along with the KB there are Transport ships that seem to be following that TF. I do not know whether the force contains all the CV's but Akagi was spotted among the various ships.
The IJN has now landed to Lae and there was nothing I could do to stop them.
There are also big 2 refugee ship TF from PHI close by... hopefully the KB doesn't spot them and accordingly I have given instructions them to move back to Darwin.
Only positive news is that 2USCM division is soon to land in Noumea and various types of aircraft are set to arrive in Brisbane.
Malaya Peninsula
Japanese troop build up is ongoing and Singapore is recieving bombardment from Japanese AC.
Otherwise, nothing to do but wait for major assault.
China
Another big Japanese deployment near Changsa road conjuction has been spotted. Around 100 000 troops so naturally the counterstrike againts Changsa has been cancelled.
Troop deployment is ongoing around wast countryside. The supply situation isn't that bad in inner China.. so there might just be some hope left. One thing for certain I must keep the Burma road Open.
Burma
The force that reached Mandalay.. consisted to have well over 20000 troops so the battle has begun for that base. I do not know whether my forces can hold it so I have ordered the AC to move towards safe bases. Accordingly I have ordered massive ground attacks againts these invading troops.
India & North, Central Pacific
Pretty much quiet. Only action to report is an sinking of an IJN sub near Pearl Harbour.
DEI
Waiting for the assault.. I have moved most of my troops to Batavia.. Soerabaja has also been strenghtened. Also, I have an issued an Surface Ship bombardment of Dadjangas. (There seem to be landing ships on port)
I hope that the Dutch airforce along with the navy can live up the expectations.. I must hold this IJN advance and cause him supply problems. I'm not going to withdraw those Surface Combat TF from this operational theatre. But if the KB shows up I might not have that opportunity so this is a gamble on the allied part.

Philippines

Telegram for the IJN Ambassador..
I recieved the following telegram from the IJN ambassador:
I hope you protect Australia... A second division is in reserve.
I think i take PM now.... Send a telegramm to England. The time for the white man is over.... The Tenno is by Front troops. It commands the attack on the pearl of Malaya.
Hmmm, things are NOT looking good at all [:@] The pace of the Japanese advance is overwhelming! Where does he get all these troops from??? That is the key question.
Here is the situation at the moment and any advice or suggestions is appreciated:
Malaya Peninsula
+60000 Troops have entered Singapore. It's down to endurance now. I have level 7 forts in this city so hopefully those forts hinder the attack. I would not count on it.. At least he seems to be vary confident about the initial success.
It would be important to hold as long as I can since we have agreed that no moving ships towards Burma and India before Singapore have fallen.
South & South West Pacific
This campaign is another headache. IJN has strong forces in Rabaul. He has also landed his troops in Buna and Lae. Now It seems he has his sights on Port Moresby. There is not much there to stop him.. Couple of ground units but nothing major. Shortlands will fall soon too since couple of AP's were spotted heading towards that island chain.
I will soon have Yorktown also.. so should I have dispatch my CV's to operate as an escort to troop shipments towards this area???
I need to build up more downhere before I can cause him solid damages.
China
Not much happening. He seems to have so much troops in Singapore/Philippines that I have been thinking about offensive here.. that is if he has moved major forces out of theatre.
What do you all think? ...Since I do not have any idea how strong the IJN is at the start because I never played that side.
PHI
Major airstrikes keep pounding my troops here. He has not moved in for the kill yet but that propably isn't too far ahead since a lot of ships all around Philippines.
Same situation as in Malaya. Not much I can do here but wait.. Allthough I propably could launch some sort of a counterstrike here... but I'm somewhat skeptical about that option.
Australia
"I hope you defend Australia" ..as the telegram states he might even be looking to land here.
I have moved troops to better locations downhere. Also few big supply convoys will reach the these beaches soon enough.
The question here is that if he deciedes to strike than where it will be now that he will have PM and Rabaul???
Central Pacific
Bolstering defenses all around. Major cargo ships have reached their destinations as well land units.
If the IJN deciedes to invade Palmyra and Canton are than I propably will strike back hard. Those islands should not be given granted for the Japs.
India
This propably will be his target as soon as he captures Singapore. We have an houserule that he can't move any shipping towards Burma nor India before the city is captured.
I have moved a lot of Fuel Out of the harbours. There are still some left that need to be removed.
Problem with the Brits is that they can't upgrade their AC yet.. and that will cause me some harm in short run.. I have a lot of aircraft here but I would like get more infantry units. I could retiere some Chinese units here to bolster my defences.. that's just a thought...
DEI
Japanese operations in this sector have "stopped".. there isn't as much ongoing operations.. well it seems that way by now.
I doubt that is the case since I still hold all the major production sites in this area.
..I guessing something will happen here very soon.
As you can see situation is not good but not disaster either.. I have heard a lot of talk about the IJN supply problems but I don't see those in effect yet. So, either he has a lot of supply stacked or he is gambling a lot!!!

RE: Telegram for the IJN Ambassador..
He did an INVASION of BATAAN ???? what the heck happened there ? I am burning with curiosity as i have never seen anyone do that before. His fleet must have been slaughtered and huge troop losses too as he only seemed to be there one day. Can you counterattck and push him into the sea ?
In Chine you have i think some decent bombers in the il-4 and the long range ones TB-3 ?? maybe try and hit some res/fact on the coastal cities and i dont think he'll have enough fighters to guard them.
As for an invasion of australia ! He must be insane , It'll net some points sure but he'l never keep it supplied for long :)I think thats a bluff and he'll take PM just to deny it to you (good jap move) . But given his agression and speed you never know [&:]
Given how early it is i dont think counterattcking is really feasable. DIG in first . then think about it. Use the time to build forts in China and Burma. Also watch out for a landing on the indian coast after singapore falls. Also abandoning Sri-Lanka ? why ? it's a bit early to assume it'll be cut off. The only force he has to do that is Cv's and the KB is in the SW pac
Also fight for every square inch of the DEI . DO NOT give him any freebies. Jave / Sumatra can be tough to take 'on the fly' and what about all the Dutch/Brit planes . You have a sizeable bomber force there to hit invasion Tf's . Just remember to set the bomber alt at 5-6k as any higher they won't hit squat:)
Anyway just my 2c
. Very interesting AAR this one . And good luck . I think you'll need it in the short term . Although if you can tough it out I am convinced he'll be very badly stretched come june 42 .

IJN suprise attack forthcoming???...
Thanx for your response Rob [:)]
Yes, he did invasion through Bataan. That was very much unexpected.. since he had landed major troops already elsewhere in Philippines. As you can see from the combat report he paid dearly for the attack as a lot of his AP's were damaged. Unfortunately, I had moved my major ground troops out of Bataan because they were in danger to be isolated. That was an mistake in hindsight [:(] As the situation stands now there is no way an counterstrike would succeed. He has so many troops here that It would be suicide [:@]
As stated I have moved towards inner China.. were the supply situation is better and roads are not as fast to travel. I have few decent bombers but their morale is low and I have counted some major AC stationed by the Japanese. You are propably right that its too early to counterstrike... but I have been thinking of re-invading Henzchow.. if nothing else than just to damage the industry there. Even that attack is risky... so.. don't know if the plan will go ahead.
Well, the Australia threat might be decoy.. than again he is invading Port Moresby with at least two full divisions (+30000) and he has similar force in Rabaul!! Also, he has taken Lunga and Shortlands!.. so the he might go ahead with the plans.. Those planes that I have mentioned are not in Australia yet!!! So, that will be a problem.. I have gathered a lot of forces down in Brisbane and have few units still on the road moving towards Darwin.
Thanks for the tip on bombers alltitude!!! [8D] .. I do not intend to give up DEI easily. I will fight to the last man.. There will no evacuation of forces and I try make him pay if he goes ahead with this adventure. I still have 3 Surface TF in Soerabaja along with 2 PT boat squadrons so that place can become to hurt him.. I actually would like him Naval bombard that place!
As for the KB.. well, he has some CV's stationed in the south!!! ..but I think he has splitted he's Cv's in two groups.. Since I haven't seen few of he's Battleships and such.
I'm actually thinking he might attack San Francisco or Pearl with those remaining units.. he did say the next few turns will reveal more of his risky plan!!!!! I will give my troops there standby orders to be prepared for an expected IJN strike!!!
I did leave Sri Lanka "undefended" because I do not have enough infantry to defend everywhere... He has also 2 infantry forces in Burma both consist to have well over 20000 each!!! [:@] That isn't good news..
Well.. thanks for the response Rob! I will have to think my plans for the forthcoming turns [&:]

RE: IJN suprise attack forthcoming???...
The date is now 11th January 1941.
My opponent has stated has he is moving ahead with his plan and he is expecting heavy casualties. The KB has vanished into the vast sea and as I have stated I believe he has splitted that Force.
Within 2 days many reinforcements will arrive everywhere and I'm still skeptical that he could try to strike San Francisco! Therefore I have massed over 200 planes and set them on Naval Attack. Also same measures are in place in Pearl Harbour.
Central Pacific
Pearl Harbour is on standby and ready for the potential suprise attack.
Japanese forces have now captured Canton Island [:(] That is not acceptable. I will start planning for counter offensive to recapture that island. It is too vital if you think about the supply route to Australia! Let's call this invasion as operation Thunder!
I have been thinking about taking Wake back but that will happen in due time.
China
Quiet! That is suprise.. I don't know if he has moved major forces out the theatre or what.. I will find out soon enough since I have given orders to the Chinese commander in Sian to retake the city of Hornan. Last known there were about 30000 japanese troops occupying the city. There are also other plans to consider since he is taking no action in this country.
Malaya
The attack in Singapore has begun. He is placing +80000 infantry and such in this offensive. I do have +60000 troops defending the city.. I have stopped building up forts since it's too supply consuming! ...and that is not good. I'm actually thinking about sending a "suicide" supply convoy there to replenish my troops!
Burma
He has moved via land +40000 IJN troops to attack Mandalay which has about 20000 troops in it. I have ordered massive ground bombarment of the area in question.
Also, sizeable Chinese force is heading towards that area to cut the IJN supply route towards that force. This might work if I'm able hold off the onslaught!
Philippines
It is obvious he is preparing for the major offensive here. A lot of Aircraft have bombarded both Manila and Clark Field. Nothing to do but wait and see if my forces are strong enough to withstand the attack.
DEI
I did send two PT boat squadrons in the Balikpan area.. and those boats encountered massive IJN troops shipment TF. ...they are loaded with troops and I have dispatched those 2 PT boats again towards that area along with 3 surface TF to intercept and sink as many of those AP's I can. He has at least major surface vessels in the area but in my opinion this is worth the risks.
I have a feeling he might have somewhat of a supply problems here since he has stepped up DEI campaign.
I do not have that many infantry troops Soerabaja but if he tries to attack there he will suffer losses due to the Dutch Airpower.
India
Just preparing the defenses and moving supply around the country. I will recieve a lot of Hurricanes in next turn and I will try deploy them wisely.
South & South West Pacific
Port Moresby is still holding.. Propably it wohn't hold up for too long though since the attacking force is overwhelming.
He has also captured.. Tulagi, Lunga, Shortlands, etc.. so this is a major operation ongoing here! He might even try to take NZ and Noumea but that will be a gamble on his part.

RE: PBEM Aztez vs Vorsteher (Scenario 16)
The date is 17th of January 1942.
Not much to report... few major "disasters" and not much else. Port Moresby has finally fallen againts Japanese attacks. Over 40000 troops are occupying that base. The situation in the south leaves a lot to be desired for... Rabaul, Lunga, Gili Gili, Lae, Tulagi and now Port Moresby have fallen.
In Singapore the opposing force is now over 100000.. that is a very strong attacking force!! Defenders inside the city are having hard times. There is 60000 allied troops trapped in there. So, that is not good.. Supply situation isn't good and I have now dispatched 4 "suicide" TF to bring in supplies.. They are coming from Bombay harbour.
Philippines have seen a lot of enemy Aircraft who have bombarded the city! It seems that they are still preparing for the final assault. A lot of troops there also.
It seems that the Japanese operation in the DEI region has also started. A lot of enemy surface combat ships there with a lot of the AK's (Which I encountered few days back). This part of the pacific is going to heat up.
China has seen enemy reinforcements moving towards Yenen.. already there over 100000 Japs attacking the city. This isn't good news. I have launched operation Orange which will become obvious to everybody in due course.
Burma has seen the Japanese army grow up in numbers. Over 40000 troops are in the outskirts of Mandalay. The Chinese force that I have dispatched there will reach their destination in due time.. they are almost on the railroad hexes nearby. I propably will try to cut off this enemy gathering and damage their supply route!!!
A lot of supply convoys are headed to their designed destinations to bring in much needed supply all over the map.
Also the operation Thunder is gathering pace. Canton Island is important to our supply convoys and such so that island will change hands again soon enough!
This is pretty much how the things stand right now. Here are again few Combat Reports that I decieded to include.
I do not know how many infantry units the Japanese have but it is mystery to me how on earth he has so many troops in so many places?????? I thought that the Japanese were short of supplies at the start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DEI offensive imminent...
Game date is now 21st of January 1942
The IJN push has taken a breather. He is resting his troops and getting supplies to them in Singapore and Philippines. That is propably wise move on his part. There are 4 supply TF moving towards Singapore as I stated earlier.
Japanese have also invaded Balikpan in the DEI. That is propably vital since he is moving towards Batavia & Soerabaja. I have dispatched few TF's to hinder this operation but those ships were unable to stop this happening. It seems that operation DEI will commence in any day now. I have been busy laying mines and setting up the initial defense. Also, I have started moving Oil resources out of the cities. I do not want him capture those assets.
Also, there are recon flights in India coming from Rangoon area. I do not know whether these are "phony" flights or not since he might as well try distract my focus. Nevertheless I have been moving fuel out of the big coastal cities. If he deciedes to attack he better bring his own fuel resources. At least that is the Idea.
Burma has been quiet.. I still preparing for offensive. As stated I would like to cut off those two divisions he has in the Mandalay. That would hurt him and there nothing I would like to do more.
Chinese have recaptured the city Hornan. Those troops are in pursuit of the enemy that was occupying this city. (30000 Japanese troops)... He has mounted 150000 troops in Yenen but those brave troops defending the city are holding tight (50000 men). I don't know but I have a feeling he has moved major troops out of China and if he has done so than I would like make him pay for that.
Supplies are reaching South/South West Pacific and Australia. The buildup here is gathering pace.
Operation Thunder will commence when I'm happy with troops at my disposal. There is no need to hurry it too much.
Anyway, here are few Combat reports:

I don't know but I have a feeling he has moved major troops out of China and if he has done so than I would like make him pay for that.
Supplies are reaching South/South West Pacific and Australia. The buildup here is gathering pace.
Operation Thunder will commence when I'm happy with troops at my disposal. There is no need to hurry it too much.
Anyway, here are few Combat reports:

Japanese airforce attacking DEI....
Game date is now 23rd of January 1942
DEI region is seeing fierce air to air combat action. There were major japanese strikes againts allied ships in this region and the Dutch airforce launched their protection "umbrella" over the area. It seems that the invasion force coming this way is imminent. I have launched counter measures againts that and I do hope I don't get toasted!
In Singapore the Japanese armed forces have grown in numbers.. according to the IJN ambassador the strenght of the attacking troops is +120000... so we are talking about major offensive.
In Philippines the air bombardment campaign has stepped up the pace and Manila seems to be the number 1 target!!! Allied forces there are in alert of imminent offensive by the Japanese.
Elsewhere the things have slowed down somewhat but as KB is nowhere to be seen I can't be sure what is going to happen.

RE: Japanese airforce attacking DEI....
Wow Things are coming along real fast on this one. Can u get any oil to singapore? It will produce supply points if the HI is . also is the dutch AF getting any hits on transports. He hasnt got much in the way of fighter cover I'd guess.
And I have to admit utter mystification as to where all these troops are coming from? I play Japan regularly and there isnt any way there shoud be 4 !! divisions spare untill either singapore or the philipines have fallen. There do seem to be many more ground forces available to japan than I thought possible. He cant have gotten them from china the pp cost is enormous and hes probaly used some to move the Zeros out of Japan (best use of them in my opinion)
Congrats on the counterattack in china , looks like the only good news going
I'm guessing Canton and plan Orange are the same thing
.. 2nd Marine div ?? or maybe the NZ brigade . I would think that the South seas detachment is on Canton + maybe some Naval SNLF and garrison troops ( not much arty there )
Hes taking some big hits on troop numbers, this might halt the auto-win in jan 43 unless he's got a monster empire and it looks like hes ignoring china for now. is noumea under threat ? it would be a jewel for japan to take that, would make canton a sideshow.
anyway thats enough rambling from me for now
Good luck again
