Production costs

Surely somebody has already posted this question, but...
What effect has the production cost of the tanks/aircraft on total production? A king tiger at cost 9 how differs from a pzIVJ at 5?
What happens exactly if resources go under 100?

If you have a tankfactory producing say 10 PzIVs, you have 10 x 5 = 50 points.
When you change this factory to produce King Tigers, you get an output of 5 Kings:
5 x 9 = 45 points.

When your Oil resources drop below 100, your units will loose readiness.
I think when your other resources drop below 100, your productiuon will suffer.
