Major Bug Report PBEM wir 3.0

Post by matt.buttsworth »

Have found a major bug playing pbem wir 3.0.
The bug is if you start your turn, move a number of units, save it - savea was what I tried - exit, and then start up the game and return to your move later - open gamea - all the units you have moved are now back at maximum readiness, no longer register that they have been moved, and can be moved again, while if they were not, the next player would face moved defending units at maximum readiness.
The possibilities for cheating are endless as are the problems for the other player.
I have redone my turn from scratch to eliminate this flaw - normal move combat, save and then send files to opponent - but this is a major bug.
Minor bug, in the 1942 scenario I am playing as Russian, Saratov shows up as an unnamed minor city that cannot be opened to change listed factories (ie t-70 to t34.)
Is this bug only in the 1942 pbem game or general.
otherwise seems to work well as long as you do not try using the seperate pbem program downloaded from the wir site that stuffs everything up when you try posting files to oppenent (they cannot open then) so I had to redo my moves using only the wir program with the pbem option.
Otherwise playing pbem is great fun. Much more fun than playing against yourself so thanks so much for the people who put in the effort to set it up as part of wir 3.0.

saratov.
just checked the 1941 standard two player game - Saratov is Saratov and can be checked so second Saratov bug seems to be in the 1942 scenario only. MRB

Great catch, Matthew,

It is actually wrong in every scenario except 1941, so I will fix it in them for the next release. For now, you can find Saratov in its old location in other scenarios, which is at 65,30, and make changes or check the city from there. Unfortunately, the map and data files are seperate, so the icon showing on the map is just a picture unrelated to the location stored in the data file, which actually controls the access to the data itself. You could also fire up editwir and load your save game and change the location to match the map location, if you wanted.

Thanks again for finding it.
