Rolf Deiter of the 8th Panzer Division 3/10 Panzer Bn looks into the dark as he lights another cigerette. Time was approaching. Men moved about their machines in anticipation of what was to come. Soon in a few hours a mighty artillery barrage would light up the eastern sky and he would lead his platoon of Panzer IVd's into Russia.
Several km's away Helmut Pabel of the 256th Division checked his pockets again for his young lovers letter, he wanted to read it one more time. It was an hour until battle.

The 8th Soviet Corps surrended with over 41,496 men and 252 Guns.
Brest-Litovsk has held under strong attacks from Guderians 12th Korps. The 31st infantry Division of the 12th Korps lead the attack against the Soviet 28th Corps which is believed to have been surrounded. These 3 divisions will soon be crushed.
Guderians 2nd Panzer Army with the assistance of the 3rd Panzer Army have succeded in surrounding several Soviets Corps and in a brilliant display of Blitzkrieg tactics.
The 56th Panzer Korps of the 4th Panzer Army under the command of Hoepner. Is heading with rapid pace towards Riga. All resistance has been crushed. Kuznetsov the Soviet commander has lost over 14,000 troops and continues to retreat.
The 47th Panzer Korps has also meet with great success pushing back and surrounding many others of Soviet General Pavlovs soldiers. Bock is leading his forces with great vision and strength.
