Resource Points Consumption

Post by scout1 »

Got a question concernign the production/logistics model for the game.

To my understanding ...... (without the hex being co-occupied)

- Resource Centers
ALWAYS produce resource points (1.25) and supply (1) every turn without
consuming anything

- Oil Centers
ALWAYs produce oil points (6) and fuel (1) every turn without
consuming anything

- Manpower Centers
May produce manpower points that are 5x the number of manpower centers, IF there
is 10x (of the number of manpower centers) resource points present. If these
manpower points are produced, the resource points (10x) are expended.

- Heavy Industry
May produce HI points, IF there are resource points stored there that are equal to the
number of HI centers AND 2x Oil points stored there as well. If this criteria is met, then
fuel (1.33) and supplies (1) points are generated at a cost of 1 resource point and 1 oil
point.
In addition, HI points are generated equal to the number of HI centers at a cost of
1 resource point and 2 oil points for each of the HI Centers.
This would mean that a "fully" stocked HI Center site would consume 2 resource points
and 3 oils points per turn for each HI center point.

Assuming I have this right ..... (?)
1) What happens at a site that has both Manpower & HI centers with sufficient resource
points for either the Manpower or HI critera to be met, BUT not both simultaneously ?
Is there a preference as to the one the game engine picks ?

I'll leave the armaments/engines/vehicle/etc ... production questions for later.

Not quite.

First, the consumption of resource and oil at an HI center is 1 resource and 1 oil. This is contrary to what is in the manual, and was tested and confirmed some time ago by (I believe) Mr.Frag.

Second, the supply and fuel are produced from the same resource and oil points that produce the HI. So, 1 Resource + 1 Oil = 1 HI + 1 Supply + 1 Fuel.

My guess would be manpower, as it is discussed in the rules section along with Oil and Resource and is called a "raw material". HI OTOH is discussed in the next section, Production, which begins with the words, "Once the raw materials are gathered, they must be processed into useful items," one of which is HI.

Of course, this is just what logic would suggest. Caveat Emptor. Someone interested enough could easily test this with the editor though. Copy the marianas scenario, set up a manpower center and an HI center on an island, put on enough oil and resource to run either one but not both, and see whether you get HI or manpoweradded to the pool.

Yeah, I got my info from the manual.

So, 1 Resouce + 1 Oil = 1HI + 1 Supply + 1 Fuel. Do you still need to meet the 2x oil
criteria fro anything to occur ?

BTW, What happens to the ".25" resource points ? Does the program really carry them and just round the displayed value ?

I can't imagine that it would do that. OTOH, are there any resource centers that aren't equally divisible by 4? Hmmm...[;)]

That one I can answer quickly (after I start up my laptop).
Though, I've only played with the editor a little bit, I think I'll take up your Mariannas suggestion.

consuming anything

OK, did a quick check and of the many resources centers located throughout the map, there are several cases where the # of resource centers are not divisible by 4. Given the 1.25 resource points per center, this means that these result in a number that is not whole.
The displays do not indicate non-whole numbers. Thus .....

1) Either the game engine keeps track of this and rounds the display OR
2) The number really isn't 1.25

Frag/Mogami ? Any insight ????

FYI on the fuel production by Oil/HI, only occurs at Ports of at least size 1 (13.2.1).
