Kudos to Matrix and 2by3 - Army Air Force Officer

Kudos to 2by3 and Matrix Games,

The officer listed in this screenshot, W.C. Sams, was my great-grandfather, who retired as a Colonel in the USAF after the war. I was more than pleasantly surprised to see that he was listed in the game.

Kudos!

How would you have felt had the game rated him 45/43? [8D]
Regarding Frank Jack Fletcher: They should have named an oiler after him instead. -- Irrelevant

Well, I'm not that invested in it. It is just a game. Besides, I do have the service records, etc. But, it was a bit surreal to see a family member listed in a game. That has never happened to me before.

I do wonder how these leadership numbers are computed now. Is there a dedicated group of researchers who assign ratings? Kudos to them too, in this case.

Hello...

Gary Grigsby did the initial reasearch. This was added to by a team of reasearchers lead by Rich Dionne. The numerical evaluations were subjective, but consistant.

Have Fun...

Thanks for the info. I knew which unit he was attached to, the 71st Tactical Reconnaissance Group (Sams commanding officer, later promoted to command and Colonel). I dug up an old book, history of the 71st Tactical Reconnaissance Group recently as well. I must say that it is very impressive that 2by3 and Matrix and Rich Dionne's group and Grigsby went to this level of detail.

Pass on my respect for the research that they've done. If they had any original source material on Sams that they used the reference list would be helpful for some research of my own.

Thanks.
