Mogami's adventure into Burma continues with continuous troop buildups, with air strikes from Allied bases filling in for a lack of adequate artillery vs these buildups (Tavoy and Rahaeng)

Mogami continues to pound Changsha and Ichang from the air.

It's the eleventh hour for the Allied presence on Java and the Dutch Colonial Empire's most valuable territory. Malang is set to fall.

Malang falls and the cost of a decent cup of joe just went through the roof. Going to have to settle for Jamaican Blue Mountain I guess.[X(][;)]

Amazingly enough, despite all these territorial losses the VP ratio remain exactly 2:1 for Japan.

I wonder if Mogami views Timor as a necessary element of his DEI strategy? Going to be very costly to take and all it does is move Japanese targets closer to the Oz LBA. If he doesn't, however, Timor based bombers can blast the snot out of quite alot of resource centres. Most likely he will take it then leave it near vacant like a nomans zone.

4E bombers are definitely too powerful and bases are too vulnerable. The pace of ops has dropped from OZ since recombining all BGs but the fact remains almost every facet of this game is TOO FAST. Malacca, Kendari and Amboina are completely shut down for air ops, and no respite is in site. All further agressive moves towards Timor and Oz will have to be supported from long ranged LBA missions from Java and Borneo.

The last Aussie defenders of Tassaforonga have surrendered. The Slomons is predominantly Japanese, just a matter of time now before serious attention is paid to New Guinea or perhaps South Pacific strongpoints.

Nothing out of the ordinary these days with the exception of a surprise appearance of a couple of rogue Dutch Army squads at Bandoeng. They captured the base left vacant by the onrushing IJA but really should have stayed in the pub they broke into after going two weeks without food or water. May as well get pissed and eat like pigs because their freedom is no doubt short lived.

Hi, There was no surprise. I watched the Dutch units but would rather they came out of the jungle then have to send units in after them. Expect a period in Java to be required to mop up the loose ends.

Strangest frigging thing. I could not believe it but a Jap sub was missed by two attacks from an escort group in a stock match. Many DCs were dropped but none hit. Now this is what I think we should be seeing the majority of the time, not hit after hit. The fact that this is the first time I've seen this...ever, is illustrative of just how backwards the results we are getting are.

Hi, What do you mean first time you've ever seen a sub missed? If you sank a sub everytime you encountered one I would have lost 40 subs by now and you would have lost 100

I mean the amount of DCs which missed. What was it, 12 or more DCs all missed. It was great! Lot's of misses is what should be happening...adds to the suspense too.

Hi, Here we go again. DC miss most of the time. You only see them in animation when they have a good contact. There might be a problem with using ammo the rest of the time but it hardly matters. I don't think any TF in this game would ever have ran out of DC.
In our game there have been over 200 submarine versus escort encounters.

You keep thinking the ships not in actual animated drop sequence are firing. They are not. This is some "explanation" adopted at some point to marginalize the fact that DCs are to accurate and ASW is too effective overall.

Anyway, the guys responsible for the game think all is OK, those who play it think it needs attention. Not much can be done while trench warfare is still commonplace at 2by3 and Matrix regarding issues such as this. Just wait until the crew ratings are on the high level...coupled with the amazing impact of leaders in the game, subs will become extinct.

Another example of the differing replays. In this case there were no strafing attacks by fighter bombers vs ships or anything else so Admiral Laurent's idea that this may have some impact is losing water fast.[;)] Nice try though, had me going for a while.

Main difference is Stingray being spotted by Zuiho's escorts in mid ocean and getting gang banged. In neither report did the sub get a chance to fire.

Pappy Boyington was killed in an operational accident at Rangoon today. Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor.[&o]

Not much to report aside from the sub attack. Daily artillery duels in China and Burma, a few air attacks to keep bases inoperative.

I missed a day about five turns ago...Mogami caught me being complacent and LR Capped Tavoy which I had been bombing incessantly (LCUs in hex actually trying to equalize his preponderance of artillery) and slapped the RAF around quite a bit. Lost about 30 Medium Bombers destroyed or damaged. Have to avoid repetition but not having a friendly AI which can be used to convey operational orders to bases/units at bases on a larger scale makes this tedious sometimes and we all forget I suspect. Got to keep on your toes![8D]
