Ditto. My rotation in the trenches scanning No-Man's-Land for news about this game ends sometime next week when GGWAW and SH3 arrive. Then I expect I shall be quite busy and uncaring about many things, for a while. [:D]

I thought you had your hands full with SC2 Bill...

I noticed that GoA is not part of the new search engine that has games released and those yet to be....I hope this is not an ill indication for the status of this game......

Indeed I do, and with AGW also. But I am, uh, ... diversified. Even with all these other games to keep me busy, I still have GOA and EiA on my radar screen. There's just something about European grand strategy games that's got my attention. The politics, the diplomacy, the mobilizations and great offensives, the ebb and flow of victory and defeat, all that stuff. Can we really ever get enough? [;)]

One thing I'm curious about this game, knowing WWI history in 20-20 hindsight, is how to avoid some of the disasters and achieve victory. I suppose there's got to be some incentive to launch a massive offensive which bleeds both sides dry, hopefully your opponent's first before you. Otherwise we'll just sit in those trenches and stare at each other. Or perhaps we'll slip into the same mindset of those WWI generals and hack away furiously at each other, ever believing victory to be close at hand.

Frank has been awol for awhile and hopefully he is busy with the game, but he did a mini AAR where there seemed to be some fluidity on the front lines....I think back to Avalon Hill's game of the same name( *BUT not at all related to this title) in that the players had the ability to break stagnant fronts simply because we gamers were more innovative than our historical counterparts....how is that for the ultimate in arrogance!....[:D]

Ive had two people ask me about this game over at the Wings over France forum. They are people who don't know to much about PC games however are veyr interested in this due to being WW1. The main problem I have telling them about it is that there is no website.
This is a major problem. People want to be able to go to a site and find out about a game before its released. Having to go to a forum and scroll all the posts just to find out what the game is about isnt good enough.

Of course, in the eponymous AH game the 3-1-1 and 3-1-2 SIEGE guns you could stack on top of the regular artillery made life easier for the Germans to get that breakthrough... you could always put what I called the "headlock" on the angle in the Allied line and get 3 stacks attacking 1.

Season (Sassoon?) of Despond

Post by ojnab_bob »

"Good-morning; good-morning!" the General said
When we met him last week on our way to the line.
Now the soldiers he smiled at are most of 'em dead,
And we're cursing his staff for incompetent swine.
"He's a cheery old card," grunted Harry to Jack
As they slogged up to Arras with rifle and pack.
* * * * *
But he did for them both by his plan of attack.
