Gamespot quotes March 31st (and I tend to trust them). EB, usually, or used to be, pretty good about all this but I don't know anymore - not that they don't generally track well, I simply haven't been this excited about a game (global WW2), since Axis and Allies was released. I bought all three versions on the days of their release (and three times dissappointed, especially last time! such a waste).

I'm anxious. I'm needy. I WANT this game! But I'm patient, the beer really helps, the forum helps, the AAR's help (I wanna be a beta tester - they are having all the fun!)

Got my copy from my local EB, right on time, just like they said. It arrived in today's shipment at about 11:00 AM. They only got two copies, however, and I just bought one of them... so a word to the wise... move fast.

CommC out.

PS... its more beautiful than I ever imagined.... [:D]

Great to hear the reports of retail availability start to roll in, I'm glad the retail copies are getting out to customers.

Hello,

here in Germany, there is no way to buy this game as a retail version. So, I had to use digital download and print the manual on my laser-printer. I would have preferred a retail version (DVD-Box), but this is better than nothing. [;)]

Nevertheless, I'll read the manual tomorrow at work...[8D]

I am sure Matrix is happy to hear the complaints are about it taking too long to get it to us, and not being able to get it, and then hear praise about the game itself, instead of the other way around.

This is going to drive me nuts. I pre-ordered from EB and specified it be delivered to the store nearest our house. So what happens today? Every EB in PDX gets a copies of WAW EXCEPT my store. They don't even show it shipping in their computer. [&:] I'm going over to another store with a copy of my pre-order and they said they'd honor it.

Got "the call" today after lunch. [8D]

I must say those who suggested waiting for the retail copy are onto something. I didn't think they printed manuals like this anymore.

Ya know I've become a big fan of Digital Download.

I've got my manual in a loose leaf folder, I printed the ebook version on original size so I can write notes in the wide margins.

And... I can't believe I'm saying this... as manuals quickly go out of date, my loose leaf one will always be up to date [;)]

Goodness me, soon I'll be writing that I'm happy for Matrix to lease its games to me monthly [:D]

None of the 6 EB Games(they never even ordered any) in driving distance of San Diego have it. Nor do my local Bestbuy, Gamestop or Circuit City. Luckily Fry's in San Marcos got in a load of copies today; they've carried past Matrix Games with regularity. I feared I would have to order it online, or ....digital download. I like my manuals and CD's. [;)]

I've ordered several matrix games using DD, and have been happy - but in this case I took Matrix request - it seemed like they wanted us to order retail to get big retail sites to become more aware - and thus I ordered from Amazon - no word yet on delivery!

Catch -22 EB Style

Post by tacticon »

Me: (to EB Clerk) Did you get any copies of World at War for PC in today?
EB: No we didn't. We won't get any in unless someone pre-orders it.
Me: Well then, I would like to pre-order it.
EB: I sorry we can't take any pre-orders for games already released.
Me: Can I just order it then?
EB: We can't take any orders for games after the release date, but you can go on line and order there.
Me: So, there no way I can buy from you because you not going to get it in and I can't order it anymore.
EB: That's right.

Not to be out done, Gamestop has the exact same policy.

Has anybody bought a copy from a store who hasn't pre-ordered it. Anyone find a copy in Phoenix?

Hey there. First time poster here. I did not pre-order, but was lucky enough to find a local EB in suburban Philadelphia, that just received one copy today! Its been quite frustrating - I've been calling EB stores since Saturday, and was told by 2 places that there was a problem with the distribution, and they have no idea when/if they would receive any copies. Best of luck in your quest......

I just ordered my copy from gogamer.com, along with SHIII. I'll have it in my grubby hands on Friday!

After 2 days of nail biting EBgames has shipped out my copy. Acording to the UPS tracker it should be on my doorstep tonight. I preordered it shipping with 2-day air so no complaints here.

The real question, is thursday going to be a sick day?
