Some questions

Post by Micha »

1. Does anyone know the original german name of Guderian's book "Panzer Leader"? Is it "Erinnerungen eines Soldaten" or is that another book?

2. Is it realistic that you can rail-transfer divisions into an isolated Leningrad??

3. In my current 1941 game against the AI I have isolated a russian HQ which seems to contain huge amounts of troops. When I attacked it, it defended for instance with 800+ tanks. My question is, since HQs cannot move at a zero supply level, should I just leave it alone instead of taking casualties while destroying it and giving the AI the opportunity to rebuild the trapped (tank) divisions?

4. My Italian Front HQ surrendered although my strength was higher than that of the Allies. I know there is a certain leader check but I cannot find the exact rules right know. Does anyone know how much higher my strength must be to be absolutely secure?

Thank you!

The german title of the book is "Achtung Panzer!" by Heinz Guderian, if I remember right.

Yes "memoirs of a soldier" or "erinnerungen eines soldaten" is the name of the book. Achtung panzer is an earlier book of Guderian about panzer-warfare.

Well, no it isn't. :) This and some other rail bugs are already known.

Yes, you could do that.

Thanks for posting all of that, Ed. In addition, the Med front is reduced to 1/3 or 1/2 strength if fighting outside of mainland Italy, including Sicily, in 1943 or later. The West front if in Normandy is similar in 1944/1945. I am not sure if these reductions are shown in the strength check. This makes it very difficult to survive event checks in these areas, similar to the old guaranteed events in the first versions, but at least variable by when they will happen, and possible to postpone by keeping the fronts strong.
