Just finished my first game (defeated .... sigh) as Germany. I seized Moscow in '41 but then couldn't hold it.... Do people play Japan and Germany (1 player playing both) to have a chance? My difficulty was on normal and I thought I was doing well (since I had a well defended Europe - fighters in every coastal section) and had smashed Russia back and into Moscow (minus Lenigrad).
This game is wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughters (groan) are getting up at 6AM and I can already tell this game is going to make life painful (in the most wonderful way)

Btw, how/when does Romania unfreeze? It never joined me even when I was kickin' arse....
