World at War sightings

Post by Rubblestone »

Thought I would start a thread so people who have actually bought it or seen it can say where and when, this way I dont have to stop at the stores every day (though I probably will) looking for it

The status of my pre-order from Amazon.com finally changed to "Shipping Soon" (We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed).

I take that as a very good sign for the future....[8D]

I called all the EBgames in Milwaukee that sell PC games (some only sell console games now) and of all of them one store got one copy, which I know hold in my hands after cajoling them into holding it for me.

I saw that EB's site finally started listing stores at which it was available. Waltzed into the nearest store (EBX at bridgewater commons mall in NJ), and snagged a copy. Busy tonight, but at least the manual will make decent reading while I'm waiting in line at the DMV...

Picked up in Madison, WI, yesterday at an EB (East Towne location). They had received 4 copies (I think)...I got one, another was a pre-order...might be some left.

Haven't had a chance to play yet, but manual is very nice. [:D] In fact, that is the only reason I waited and didn't DD it...wanted the nice manual and cd! [:)]

Good gaming,

Finally Picked it up at one of the EB Games in area,
the one in Mall had it, the other a few miles away Didn't
have it yet still.

Mall store had it in the backroom.

[:-] I really don't like EBgames as it seems 95 pct of their space is full of damn console games and oh about 4-6 feet of one wall has PC games displayed...

My local EB (in Sierra Vista, AZ) finally got some in today and I grabbed one. Glad I resisted the urge to DD like I do with most Matrix games 'cause the printed manual is *very* well done.

Found one copy in Greensboro, NC.

I too resisted the temptation to DD it; the manual is awesome, and the catalog is sweet.

I laughed at the first page of the manual:

1. Don't use a monitor that is too big! (Mine is a 22 in. DiamondMax)

2. Take 10-15 minute breaks every hour. Yeah, right :)

3. Don't play if sleepy ; Yep; uh-uh. :) What is coffee for?

4. Use proper lighting, don't play in a dark room. :)

Availabilty report: Wednesday, March 30: Still no joy in Houston at Fry's, Best Buy, CompUSA or EB. But I had to drive 183 miles to Tyler, Texas on business....cell phone in hand. I checked by phone at several large towns along the way as I passed through: no joy. However, in Tyler a Hastings store had had one copy and sold it on Tuesday. A Game Stop said they might have one in today's shipment. I drove straight there and helped open the box. I now own that copy of WaW. Best Buy in Tyler and elsewhere still has never heard of it.

Found it at the EB at Padre-Staples Mall here in little oh Corpus Christi, TX. They now have only one copy left......that is probably the only one in existence in all of S.Texas on the retail level.

One of the EB stores here in Red Deer got only one copy in, a preorder one... so what is up with EB? By looking at other posts they seem to be only geting one or so copies, is there a supply problem or is it just EB? Has anyone seen it in Future shop of Best buy yet? I am still waiting, if it wasnt for the fact I am playing SH3 I would be going crazy.

Damn, the EB I preordered from in Charlotte, NC still doesn't have it - but there are two others across town that do have it! WTH is going on with EB - why one store still doesn't have a game that's been out since Monday but two other stores do? Guess I'm cancelling my preorder tomorrow and going by the other store tomorrow night!

Amazon showed it in stock on Wednesday; I ordered it with next-day shipping and I did receive it today (Thursday). I already had the download copy, but I wanted the printed manual; I figure I'll pass the extra copy on to someone else.
