I agree. Would make their population useful for something other than militia and sea power.

No.

It's all part of overall balancing. You must watch every decision in light of the whole game. Axis players would make Italy into aircraft-producing powerhouse, spurting Me-109s (and later on Me-262s), Stukas and He-111s from factories in Milan at fantastic rate. Unrealistic. What little aircraft Italians had is accounted for in the overall game design, starting forces, etc.

BTW, countries like Yugoslavia or Romania had their "indigeneous" aircraft production too, but on global strategic scale it's too small to really matter.

[:D] But historically Italians WERE useful only for militia and sea power [:D] And even that is dubious actually.

PS. Before you reply remember I was pro-Italian advocate during beta! [;)]

I'm not arguing whether it is historically correct. Again, I posted this elsewhere, but I think it would help with game balancing. It seems to me if one plays human controled axis vs human controlled allies, the allies with clean up every time. However, I have yet to finish a single PBEM game so I am not completlely sure about this. Just my opinion based on lots of time in single player. Any thoughts??

Read some AARs, especially the one with Joel vs. Paul. Before wiping the floor as Axis with Paul as Allies, Joel did nearly same thing to me in "almost release" version of the game, using very similar strategy.

Axis can win vs. human (in as much as me and Paul are humans [:D]) but game is certainly harder for Axis (as it should be).
