What is your operating system? That is the key for trying to free up memory, if possible. Also, how are you starting the game? If you are doing it through the Matrix shortcut that displays extra stuff, it will use more memory and leave less for the game. In this case, just start the game directly and you shouldn't have a problem.

I used to have the same problem. Try adding "rem" in front of emm386.exe in your autoexec.bat or config.sys files. That did it for me.

In part it depends on your operating system, which is why I asked about that earlier. If you are using Win 95 or Win 98, they are in your c: folder. The emm386 line will be in the config.sys file, so don't worry about the autoexec.bat file. It can be more complex than a simple rem added also. If you are using Win ME, nobody has posted how to get it to work if it doesn't (I have not had a problem with ME myself). NT and Win 2000 are a lost cause for adjusting memory for the game, I believe. Good luck.

I have Winblows 98 and usually don't have problems running WIR. But before I start the game, I usually do a reboot. You may also want to check you're system tray in the lower right corner. You may have some things running there that don't need to be running while playing.

If someone has Windows 2000 try this:
Right click on the WIR icon and choose settings. Under Memory tab set the XMS and EMS settings to none. (Translated from the German Windows Version)

To french fries:
Post your autoexec.bat and config.sys files here and we can make some proposals on how to adjust them.
