v1.016 installed - no game anymore :(

So, here it goes:

I had no problems whatsoever when playing the game with v1.005.
Installed the patch, started the game...BANG ! It just sits on the startscreen and does nothing !
I re-installed the v1.005 and everything is fine again.
As I tried this out 3 times I can confirm it has something to do with the new patch...

My specs (if needed):
Win XP SP2 with WMP 10, DirectX 9.0c and the latest nVidia-drivers (v71.84) running on Pentium IV 3,4 (2048 MB RAM) with GeForce 6610 (128 MB)

Please advise !

Hi Mindphaser,

Very sorry to hear that. Can you post a DxDiag file for us? Please see the pinned thread at the top of this forum for instructisions.

Have you tried re-installing the patch and re-downloading/re-installing to make sure this isn't a file corruption issue? When you installed it, did you have background programs such as Anti-Virus scanners turned off?

Erik, I am in the office right now so the DxDiag-file has to wait a bit
But here in the office (Compaq Evo pentium 4 2gig with 256 MB ram and an onboard intel graphic-card) I tried to install the patch (which I downloaded at home and also tried at home, so it is the same exe)...Everything OK !

I don't see any problems right off the bat. Can you recall if anything else in the system changed around the same time you installed the update, as far as new software, display settings, drivers, etc.? Just making sure we have a controlled environment.

Have you tried making sure the display driver is reset to defaults and trying again? Have you tried forcing windowed mode? If not, add a -w to the end of the Quick Start shortcut, which should launch the game in windowed mode.

All I can think of if that fails is that the updated graphics/memory detection is running into some kind of problem. If that's the case, it may take a few days to unravel as we will have to ask Keith to look into it with you. For the time being, if you get frustrated please stick with v1.005 until we can work this out.

thanks for your time and your suggestions - I think I figured it out: Don't know why but it seems that my Antivirus-Proggie causes the misbehaviour....when i deactivate eTrust WaW v1.016 runs without problems !

I think I'll contact CA with that.....
