Anyone for a game?

Post by Daguerre »

Hi, i'm loking for an opponent for the 1941 campaign. I would like to be the russian since i only tried the german till now.

In this game there would be one "special" rule caused by the PBEM: Since it's so easy to simply cancel a turn and restart it with the PBEM, i would like that the player who would like to play against me accept the fact that he and i can play the turn as much as we want until we send the most favorable one to the opponent.

This way at least, it will not be possible to "cheat". That rule will give a huge advantage for the germans at start but with the beginning of novembre, that should put things to equal since its the russian who gets the odds for the weather.

So, Anyone in?

Daguerre,

Be aware that there is something known as the blizzard bug that occurs during the winter of 41/42 that is supposed to be fixed with the next patch. Basically there is a high likelyhood of high readiness German formations shattering instead of holding or retreating. Strong low readiness German formations rarely shatter but can be made to retreat. Also, be careful with PBEM, any saving and restarting will increment many functions that occur at the start of a turn. What you will need to do is play the turn from start through combat resolution then zip the saved turn to your opponent. That took some concentration on my part at first since I routinely saved during play against the AI.

Good luck, Svar

I'll play you if you want to. Sure, there's bugs and problems, but in my opinion, the game is still very playable.
Are you using the PBEM software available here for download or do you just want the files zipped?
The only house rules I use are

1. No Finns further away from Leningrad than 6 hexes.
2. No mix of Hungarian and Roumanian units.

If you would like to add or remove from that list, please let me know!

Forgot to say that it is ok with me to play the turn as many times you like, as long as you don't save and restart.
Use the file sent to you everytime you restart the game, never save until it is ok to send the turn.
