questions on the dis/connected resources

Post by WanderingHead »

First, Persia has resources but no rail lines. Isn't that the same as not having resources? So far as I understand, there is no way to get resources to factories unless connected to the rail/transport net.

Second, is there a quick way to find which zones are disconnected from the rail/transport net, and hence don't provide resources?

The pop-up text is a bit misleading. You do NOT need a rail connection to utilize a region's resources. All you need is a chain of friendly territories and/or transports back to your factories.

No, there does not appear to be any way to highlight or display which territories are not linked. I'm hoping something is added in a patch, but I havent seen anything definate.

Hope it helps!

OK ... that does help. Thanks. Yes, the pop up says "Resources not in the rail net", but the rulebook says they move over "friendly or neutral land areas". Apparently the rail net is not all that relevant to resource linkage.

Any explanation for why Algeria (Vichy) has three resources in its pool (1 resource center), when Germany has had a transport sitting in the central Med for the last couple of turns? There is a friendly controlled link from Algeria->Tunisia->Central Med->Italy.

I have a guess, which is that Germany doesn't have enough factories to use the resources, so they remain "uncalled for". Of course, I would rather they at least move to the continent before control of the Med is lost.

Does my guess seem like the reason, or is there another explanation?

That is probably the reason. In the early game, Germany does not have enough factories to use all the resources. So, they sit in pools. My guess is that they are called from the closest areas first.

Resources are only stored up to twice the resource number in a single resource territory (so 2 in this case). The 3rd is likely the one that was produced on the current turn. I would wager that it will sit at 3 until Germany can use it in which case it will go back down, assuming it is still connected at that point.

Supposedly, each Factory can store one unused RP as well (at least that is what I gathered from the rulebook). I would guess that all of that pool is full too, so the rest are left to rot in the remote places of the world.
