Independent papers report growing fear in the finnish population. German bombers continusly terorrbomb Lenningrad and finnish people think they will suffer the retaliation as strong soviet ground forces are positioned against them. O.K.H. reports about "strictly military objects are bombed in Lenningrad", and "the soviet forces are understrength and pose no threat whatsoever to Finnland".

Stalin ordered the ground forces to prepare for the coming spring offensive by the capitalist oppressors of the west, so things were quiet on the ground. A couple of air attacks were attempted but failed with losses running 3 to 1 in favor of the Luftwaffe. The rain continues.
Also, the peace loving Finns were assured through neutral parties in the US that the Soviet Union does not hold them responsible for the raids on Leningrad by the Luftwaffe, although pressure has been put on them to remove the Luftwaffe before an attack is launched to forcibly remove them from Helsinki.

This long rainy season begins to nerve the soliders of the german army <img src="mad.gif" border="0"> Nothing moves. We had a small probing attack near Lvov. The attack was highly succesfull, but the panzer korps deceided not to advance behind the beaten bolscheviks in this mud <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> Everything about the repulsed attack with high losses is bolschevik misinformation. There was a big demonstration in Helsinki cheering for the Luftwaffe this week.

It was fairly quiet, with the normal air skirmishes near Lvov with no real effect and some minor ground combat. Until the thaw ends, all offensive operations have been ended. T34s have been massed all along the front in preparation for the coming spring offensive to end the war.
A number of the weak Panthers were found stuck in the mud after the German attack near Lvov was stopped. These tanks are being study to help improve the next generation of T34.

The panzers deceided this time to chase the beaten enemy in the Lvov region. Hopefully clear weather will arrive soon, and the panzers can capture Tarnapol soon. The O.K.H. deceided that the aggresor has to be completely destroyed, so there will be only peace for Europe after the Sovietunion surrenders unconditionaly. (independent papers held this press announcment by the germans for extremely stupid)

The panzer penetration north of Lvov was hit by a minor air attack, followed by ground forces who were completely unsuccessful, despite heavy losses in throwing back the German penetration. Comrade Stalin is getting impatient with the lack of success, and is threatening change in the leadership of the Red Army. Meanwhile, rain continued to fall.
Meanwhile the Finns were offered the return of the area around Lake Ladoga taken during the winter war, in return for withdrawing from the war and removing the German troops, but the peace offer was rejected.

Another small attack was launched to probe the soviet defence in the Lvov area. Soviet defence is weak and will be broken through next turn. The finn goverment will stay in our great alliance. The news about the peacetalks with the soviets are only bolschevik propaganda.

A heavy air battle was fought near Lvov, with the Luftwaffe losing nearly 100 fighters, for the loss of 105 fighters and 7 bombers by the Red Air Force. Only minor skirmishes occured elsewhere. Near the end of the week the skies cleared and the ground dried rapidly in the warmth of the sun. The poor Russian peasants celebrated the renewal of life around them, in the bomb shredded front lines, while the cloud of a German offensive hung over them.
Rumors of peace with the Finns spread through Leningrad, leading to cheering in the streets by the populace of the only Soviet city to be hit by Luftwaffe bombs in the war. Without Finnish territory, Leningrad will be safe from bombers, at least for now.

Finnland signed a seperate peace with the soviets for the lost lands! They said to the german ambassador that "now we have nothing to fight for, but we remain strictly neutral". The Luftwaffe was withdrawn. Germany is deeply disappointed by the oportunist finn goverment, but have no choice but respect their choice. Hopefully they will rejoin the victorious german army (see front news).

In the north the tilsit line was strengthened by the 4th ss panzer korps as several soviet armies were thrown back to the other side of the river. The main action was in the Lvov area though. 4 panzer korps created a big hole in the soviet defense retreating 4 soviet armies and destroying the 50th and the 5th guards tank army in a big encirclemet battle. Tarnapol will fall within weeks. The entire soviet south front is endangered.

Comrade Stalin went into a fit of rage over the disaster in southern Poland. He ordered a number of counterattacks, but they did not succeed. Losses were heavy on both sides, but favored the German forces. Reserves were put on alert for movement to the front, but many men turned up missing in the rear areas.

After the great victory in the ground the Luftwaffe gained a costly but great victory in the air. After seeing the severety of the problems in the south the bolscheviks have thrown in masses of modern fighter to protect their remaining forces. The Luftwaffe used decoy bombers with full fighter support to force them to open fight. After the end of the week the skies were cleared from soviet fighters. Over 1000 soviet fighters were confirmedly shoot down. Several new aces emerged this week in the Luftwaffe. The Luftwaffe losse were also great, but in great part bombers. The fighter losses ratio is more the 2:1 in the favor of the Luftwaffe. On the ground in the Tilsit area the last remaining soviet army was thrown back to the east side of the river, estabilishing a perfect defense line and freeing up two full strength panzer korpses to be used elsewhere <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> In the south the encirclement of Tarnapol has succesfully began.

The Red Air Force was pulled back to recuperate after the heavy battles of the past few weeks. However, many experienced pilots are spreading their knowledge to new recruits, assuming enough planes can be built to give them. On the ground, a few counterattacks were launched causing fairly heavy losses to the enemy, but no ground was gained. Comrade Stalin is pleased with the overall situation in the air, being much better than 6 months before, but there are reports of a new rocket plane being prepared for battle by the enemy. Meanwhile, the development of a new tank gun is being rushed to provide the Red Army with a better weapon to use against the massive numbers of superior enemy tanks.

Our forces turned to the south in the tarnapol region a punished the soviet flank. 2 soviet armies are destroyed (2 shatter), and one is surrounded with the best panzer korpses so there is no escape next week. In the middle fanatic soviet peasants are slowing our attack for the third week running, but in few weeks there will be a breakthrough with the succes of the southern offense. The soviets have given up the battle for the air, but were unprepared for the long range surprise bomber attacks in the rear airfields. Many heroic bombers died, but the one's who got through destroyed over 1300 planes.

The Red Air Force struck back, hitting the 4th Panzer Army airfields and destroying 193 planes on the ground. Comrade Stalin ordered heavy counterattacks near Lvov also. There met with limited success as the Invaders were thrown back in two locations. Heavy losses were inflicted by our brave soldiers, and many damaged planes are being repaired and prepared for further action.
