Hello...

30) Yes. They are specifically why the rule change occured.

6) The computer opponent finds the rule amusing and ignores it.

Great Stuff!!! Thanks for all your hard work Mike!!! [:D][&o]

Two questions if possible:

30) Air groups belonging to restricted commands could be transferred onto escort carriers (CVE) and float plane groups belonging to restricted commands could be transferred onto cruisers (CL/CA). Fixed. Now, air groups belonging to restricted commands may only be transferred onto ships, if they start the game on that ship.

Does this include aircraft such as the Home Defense Aircraft in Japan that could transfer to carriers but were not supposed to???

6) Land units that have the replacements toggle set to, “No replacements”, no longer receive equipment upgrades.

If we select no upgrades/no replacements at the start options does the AI still not get replacements and/or upgrades???

Great! Thanks Mike!

Just a note:

30) Air groups belonging to restricted commands could be transferred onto escort carriers (CVE) and float plane groups belonging to restricted commands could be transferred onto cruisers (CL/CA). Fixed. Now, air groups belonging to restricted commands may only be transferred onto ships, if they start the game on that ship.

From what you are saying I think the fix takes care of the whole problem but the these restricted commands could transfer to more than just escort carriers (CVE) and cruisers:

I could transfer japanese home defense planes to the pearl harbor strike force (CV's) on turn 1 as well....

Im assuming this fix prevents the restricted commands from transferring to any type ship now unless on a ship at the start of the game???

Hello...

This cannot be fixed. It is a system issue. When you click save, just wait until the message that the save has occured pops up and the hour glass goes away. The pop-out telling what the done button does will reappear, when the mouse is placed over the button. That means everything is done and you can exit.

If something mentioned above does not occur, your system is fibbing to Keith's system call. Just wait 10 seconds.

Bye...

Save Game Crash Bug

Mike

It looks like after the game is saved the hour-glass goes away, but the list of saved game files is then updated, the crash seems to happen after the hour-glass goes away but, before the listbox of save files is updated if you exit the saved game screen. I'll bet this only happens on fast machines with a large number of saved game files. Something is very stange with the save game listbox[&:]

Any idea why it takes so long for the save game screen to load when there is a large number of saved files?

Great news!

A couple of questions:

1- Any changes in any aircraft performances? I mean: can we start playing a pbem match immediately after 1.5 comes out, or we better check for some...undocumented features?

2- What about the Map? There were rumors that the Andrew's Map could have been added to the official game.....something true?

3- About the ability to change the upgrade path....will it be a kind of penality ( on pilot experience i.e.) or we'll just have to pay PP for these changes?

I'm really looking forward to see how the night bombing has been remodelled!

Thanks a lot!

Hi, Even with the night bombing changes a large raid by experianced heavy bombers can still wreck an airfield. At some point in the war such attacks will take place. Now you should have a better idea when they might occur by watching enemy bomber groups and noting their results. When they are hitting you hard in daylight on a routine basis you can expect they will hit targets at night as well (if it has been reconned or bombed often enough)
Allied players should begin war understanding the Japanese have a number of very experianced bomber groups and the Japanese can use numbers to make up for the lower bomb loads.
Even low experiance groups can at times pass the checks and score hits. Since it only takes one good attack to hurt.......... expect that attack. All the precautions needed before the reduction in night bombing will still be required.

I am very glad that nigh bombing was changed (in small part I hope this was due to my effort in comprehensive testing of bombing raids here at the forum few months ago)!

But what about daytime bombing? Was anything chnaged there at all (also in light of my comprehensive testing of bombing raids here at the forum few months ago)?

Well, I'm glad that night bombing has been tweaked some.

I still am confused about the cross-river rule. Does the auto-attack when you cross a river mean a Shock Attack or a Deliberate Attack?

Nice - I am glad that I was of service!

BTW, any (possible) info about daytime bombing tweaking?

How about the issue of say, a 64 plane BG, not taking in more than 50 planes unless split (or not recovering from damage unless split). My understanding was that would be addressed.

All in all, this patch looks great!

Cheers,

Hello Mike .. sounds great.. What about all my screwed up air groups with either too many planes or pilots caused by the fragnmment errors.. will they auto correct, or do I have to kill off the planes pilots? some groups have twice the numbers they should...
one b 29 group has close to 70 planes

I seem to recall that there was going to be a change made to how captured bases are handled - there would be larger reductions in the amount of fuel/supplies destroyed instead of captured. Is that included, or do I have a faulty memory (much more likely...)?
Information about my WitP map, and CHS, can be found on my WitP website

A lot of the rule changes require a restart since they require access to new device table data.

"New device table data" - does this mean that existing scenarios will not work with 1.5? I am thinking of the CHS mainly.

Related question: If the answer to the above is no then will it be possible to load a pre-1.5 scenario into the editor and re-save it in 1.5 format?

Thanks for all the work BTW.

Two new bombs (1000 and 2000lb AP) have been added to the device database file which the program will now use when needed.
Without these present, the game may(?) crash when it tries to use them.

If you have any modified non-official OOBs, these bombs (in the correct slot) will need to be added.

The other OOB changes are earlier in this post.

Hope that these heavy AP bombs aren´t used in masses...... What are the requirements to get the big boys on an airstrike?

18) Allied dive bombers may now sometimes use 1000 pound AP bombs, after August, 1942. Heavy Allied bombers may use 2000 pound AP bombs beginning in 1943. Skill rolls, experience rolls and, in the case of heavy bombers, adequate supply [needed x 2] apply. These AP bombs can only be used to normal range, against naval targets. This feature will function in games started with version 1.50 or later.
